Is the .300 career batting avg going the way of 300 wins for a pitcher? Cabrera, trout, cano, altuve, are currently career .300 hitters. However 3 of those 4 are likely to end up sub .300 by retirement.

Cano won't play at the MLB level again so he is safe, Cabrera is safe as he will retire next season.... so Altuve or Trout

Add Freeman, Goldschmidt, Trea Turner to that list. They’ll be close.

ETA: strong case for Brantley, LeMahieu, Blackmon

Freeman is not currently at .300 as his career average is .297

Goldschmidt is the same as his career average is .296

Turner is at .303 but only 29 and batting .306 this season so he may dip as he ages

Brantley .298
DJ .299
Blackmon .298

I'm not counting on any player over 30 to suddenly start hitting over .300 when their career years are under .300

It's crazy and sad how Pujols will finish below .300. Dude was averaging .330 first 10 years of his career.

Bonds and A-rod as well.

Pujols lying about his age and playing until he’s 50 resulted in that.

The .300 average isn’t going away like 300 wins, but we’ll definitely see fewer going forward

Don't forget Mickey Mantle. And it would have happened to Willie Mays too if the Mets had given him more at bats.

Altuve is at .306 career but he'll finish below. He hasn't hit .300 since 2018 and isn't that type of contact hitter anymore.

The game is so fricked up and the younger idiot fanbase wouldn’t know real baseball was if it jumped in the shower with them so who knows.

John Kruk played 12 years and was a career .300 hitter.

Altuve has played 12 years and is hanging on for dear life for that average.

Seems that's the sweetspot.

Its all downhill if you hang on. Who are the 21st century players who have 15 plus years and are career .300 hitters?

Altuve has a good shot to get to 3000 hits though, which is perhaps a better career benchmark than .300 BA
