I'm not a fan of Kaepernick simply because I think he makes the 49ers that much better but this article has to be one of the strangest I've ever read. The writer knows nothing about him yet tries to paint him as a thug?
quote:

NFL quarterback is the ultimate position of influence and responsibility. He is the CEO of a high-profile organization, and you don’t want your CEO to look like he just got paroled.

quote:

My guess is Archie would have made Peyton throw an extra 1,000 passes before dinner if he’d come home with a tattoo. The old man knew QBs are different.

Here's a response and Keapernick's parents' comments.

Anyone else just find this to be a bizarre topic to write about?

It was one of the most racist columns I've read in a major publication. It read like "I'm afraid of black people" even with the reference to Cam Newton as a good guy to emulate.

Just bizarre. The editor should have killed it.

You have NBA and college hoops in full force, in the middle of the NFL stretch run, and MLB hot stove going on and this is what you choose to write about?

Approximately 98.7 percent of the inmates at California’s state prison have tattoos. I don’t know that as fact, but I’ve watched enough “Lockup” to know it’s close to accurate

this qualifies as journalism??

Where do I send my resume????

Not only Cam but makes it sound like Big Ben having one that's not visible is acceptable. Nevermind he being a rapist

This is fricking stupid. Why is it ok for Lebron James, the face of his franchise, to have tattoos and not Kaepernick, who this guy is also calling the new face of the franchise? Stupid. The guy's a football player, not a CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Does it really matter if his tattoos offend anyone?

Well sir, that's because we lost the NBA to the coloreds a long time ago. We're losing the NFL but by God, we still have the quarterback position. If the coloreds take the quarterback position, all of our daughters and wives will be sleeping around with those darkies and smoking marijuana. I'm glad someone had the courage to stand up to this.

So he's okay with the NBA players doing it, but not a NFL quarterback?

Hmm, I bet that's not racist at all.

Kaeperswag is biracial and has the whitest adoptive parents you can imagine.

He's a well-loved person and if anything he's way too soft. There isn't a thug bone in his body (to-date at least). This "writer" is trash.

It gets better. Story on NFL.com about the article.

quote:

Kaepernick was a 4.0 high school student that has never been in any sort of trouble. His tattoos are of bible verses.

The article could have just been a one sentence blurb: "Colin Kaepernick has visible tattoos unlike most other NFL QBs."

Groundbreaking journalism right there.
