Can bowls realistically be moved to the beginning of the year?

You have to secure stadiums and sites for August, and somehow rely on fans wanting to travel to outdoor games in Miami, Tampa, etc in the sweltering heat? You’re going to try to cram every game into a prime time slot. People don’t have luxury of holiday travel time to attend. Coaches and ADs will undoubtedly bitch about having to play a team worth a shite in Week 0 if it screws up their CFP chances.

No, the bowls are dead, they just don’t realize it yet

Instead of that they should just raise the bowl threshold to 8 or 9 wins, cut a majority of bowls, and just have 10 or 12 higher level games kind of like the old days, in addition to the playoffs. Make a bowls a thing for actual good teams again.

That’s kind of my point. This idea that preseason bowls will work based on previous year’s performance and thinking fans will travel to southern destinations in August…naw.

Is there any reason they can't change the location?

Teams would refuse to play them seeing as UT was bitching how their tough game cost them playoff spot.
It's all garbage now because of what ESPN has done to the sport.
