I can't imagine what it's like rooting for Cam Newton being a diehard Panther fan. It has to be so conflicting. You obviously put the team first and want the team to be successful. In order for that to happen you need an above avg QB which Cam is, but he is one of the all time most dislikable figs in sports ever. I bet a lot of fans secretly root against Cam and there's no way the majority of the locals support him.

The major sports radio station and its shows seem to be split down the middle between Cam fanboys and haters (but still panther fans) - unless he's doing very poorly or when he's in Cam 2015 mode which results in all hating or all love, respectively. Probably by design but it does seem the radio hosts are also just bout split down the middle.
There is no problem calling him out for poor play or being a crybaby on the sidelines which I approve of.
He and a lot of the other players are pretty active in this community which of course helps the image.

Trump actually apologized for those comments and that's still the only time where I've seen him completely remorseful and full of shame.
