If Bama doesn't get in because of a championship game loss, you can say goodbye to the SEC championship game

Bama won't be out period. can't penalize a team who had to play an extra game. Duke winning doesn't really matter, the 4th and 5th spots for conference champions are gonna be teams that aren't top 15. I think Notre Dame would be out, then committee can save themselves a headache and keep both them and Miami out

I don't see how Alabama gets in with a loss period.

I don't either. People keep mentioning SMU. SMU was 11-2. Bama would be 10-3 so one fewer win and one more loss. SOS isn't really important the committee has made that pretty clear. You have to beat who is on your schedule no matter how good or bad they are.

We have to wait and see on the rankings tomorrow. As of last week, they’re the last team in the field. If BYU were to beat TT on Saturday, then that pushes an at large team out of the field. Going by last week’s rankings, that would be Alabama. If both Bama and BYU win, then ND is likely going to be out.

I would imagine that the committee will be proactively protective of the Conference title games since they are a cash cow.

My guess is with the rankings tomorrow that they remedy the Miami / Notre Dame situation since they both have the same record while Miami own a head to head victory. What's the point of measuring losses when there's a head to head victory?

Notre Dame in most of the polls is ahead of Alabama by just a few points, I wouldn't be surprised if the committee bumps Bama up a spot ahead of Notre Dame to account for a potential loss and BYU win.

If anything negative happens to either Bama or Georgia because of an outcome of the SEC title game, that'll be the end of the SEC Championship. That's a ton of TV money gone and no one is going to let that happen.

People are forgetting the situation with SMU last year. It wasn't SMU that was the issue, it was a bad Clemson team beating them at 9-3 and taking the auto qualifier spot.

They didn't want to punish SMU for having to play an extra game as they were comfortably in before the game.

The second issue that came up with SMU was a strength of schedule that was in the 120's.

The committee last year established two things, strength of schedule doesn't matter and they don't want to punish teams that have to play extra games.

Who knows how this years group will see it.

Last year SMU vs Bama would be nothing close to this year Bama vs Miami

Smu had more wins AND less losses than bama

This year of bama loses they would have the same wins as Miami with more losses

Also Smu was 8th heading into the conf champ game, bama is 10th (likely)

It’s not similar situations

They’ve benefited more than once of not playing in it. One time, the team that beat them lost in the conference championship and then Alabama got to go instead of them.

No compassion from a reasonable person.
Yup. Welcome to the show, frickfaces.
