BYU breaking off football from the rest of the athletic programs

Interesting development here. Sitake will no longer report to the BYU AD, he’ll report directly to the University VP while the AD handles all the other sports.

Sitake now reports directly to Vorkink, who is also Santiago’s supervisor.
“Given today’s dynamic athletics landscape,” Vorkink said, “we feel it’s important to be providing more administrative support, not less. We’ve made recent hires with that in mind, and we’re also organizing in ways that we believe will support BYU’s world-class programs.”
The sudden disruption comes a month after Sitake, without naming names or making specific requests, called publicly for additional investment in the school’s flagship sport to help it get over the hump and into college football’s playoff.

Good. Now if they/everyone can just break football away from Title lX the world would be a better place.

Exactly. I’m not sure what “breaking away” even means.
At reading this headline I first thought of Rick Pitino who has suggested football do its own thing and let all the other sports stay in conferences that make geographic sense.

Don’t see how that would make a difference. The enforcement is regarding the university providing “equal opportunity” not the athletic department specifically.
