I still say that what he got suspended for the other night was nitpicky. He was trying to foul and he got there late and accidentally got his head, and you can see that he was actively trying to keep him from hitting the floor after he hit him.

FWIW, I didn't think what Odom did was a big deal at all. It's Bynum that I have a problem with. That sort of senseless violence should be highly frowned upon in our society.
Violence is only okay when it's within the rules of the sport and both parties are aware of what the situation is. Nobody in their right mind would expect to have somebody throwing elbows at their unprotected chest as they run full steam towards the goal. That's not part of the game, nor should.
Ultimate fighting, hockey, and football is okay because there's already an expectation of violence and more importantly violence is generally understood to be part of how the game is won or lost.
In Bynum's case, he crossed the line. I'm honestly impressed JJ was ok.

Exactly. About 6 more inches in rotation and Barea probably still be unconscious.
Who would have picked "A" if I posed this question before the series?
Who will have a bigger impact on the LA/Dallas series?
A - Barea
B - Gasol
C - Bynum
D - Artest

i agree. the only problem with it is he did it too late in the game/series.
he should have been doing that in game 2 or something. fwiw i dont think odom would have been tossed if it had happened when the game was still in question.

It was a bitch move but it wasn't nearly as dangerous as people are making it out to be.
He checked a guy half his size with his elbow straight in the ribcage. That plus the way he landed could've easily broken a rib or two.

which is why kobe and fisher went into the dallas locker room to check on JJ and apologize?
i dont think kobe is doing that unless he thought it was ridiculous.

Look at Kobe's response in the video as soon as it happens. He just shook his head because he knew it was ridiculous.

That's good to hear. I suspect Bynum wanted to suck the Mavs into a brawl to ruin their chances in the next round. There's no telling.

What he did was absolutely retarded, but there was no elaborate plan.
He was pissed off and acted like a teenage girl getting her unlimited texting taken away

I remember Kermit Washington's lifetime suspension for the punch he threw against Rudy Tomjanovic.
Do you?
Because per Wikipedia, it never happened:
quote:
Washington was fined $10,000,[72] and suspended for 60 days, missing 26 games; then the longest suspension for an on-court incident in NBA history.[73] The Rockets were furious. Tomjanovich missed the rest of the season and they felt Washington should at least have done likewise.

I like the idea of suspending Bynum for his next possible playoff games
10 games in the regular season? Who cares?
First 10 playoff games he would have been eligible for? Holy shite... that might be more than one year

Nah--I'm too busy laughing at all the incredibly funny stuff you've been typing to come back at anybody.
SUch as?
Everything I type is either factual backed up by stats, or an opinion that is logical and also backed up by stats, so I'd love to see the "funny stuff" you're talking about.

So far I've run into "internet tough guys"...
Wait, aren't you the guy saying guys wouldn't do that at some park I never heard of? Wouldn't that make you, and not them, the internet tough guy?

Yea, he looked like he was disgusted and did care in that spot...unlike the last 3 quarters of his season where he looked like he didn't care one bit and gave up, becoming completely unaggressive and just as bad as the rest of the guys with his lazy closeouts/rotations.

That isn't even the worst part of what he said in that post.
He obviously hasn't even seen the fight, just came up with his opinion based off something he read on the internet or somewhere.

True. I watched the punch, and he just squared up and jacked Tomjonavich's face in.
quote:
The blow, which took Tomjanovich by surprise, fractured his face about one-third of an inch (8 mm) away from his skull and left Tomjanovich unconscious in a pool of blood in the middle of the arena. Jabbar likened the sound of the punch to a watermelon being dropped onto concrete.[60] Tomjanovich had a reputation around the league as a peacemaker.[62] Players involved say that right after Tomjanovich collapsed the absence of sound at the arena, which was filled with shocked fans, was "the loudest silence you have ever heard."[63] Reporters heard the sound of the punch all in the way in the second floor press box, and some rushed to the playing floor in disbelief.[64]
Tomjanovich was able to get up and walk around however, and on the way into the locker room he saw Washington. Tomjanovich says that he became aggressive and asked Washington why he punched him. Washington yelled something inaudible about Kunnert, and they were broken up by two security personnel.[65] Tomjanovich was in no condition to fight despite his aggressiveness; besides having the bone structure of his face detached from his skull and suffering a cerebral concussion and broken jaw and nose, he was leaking blood and spinal fluid into his skull capsule. His skull was fractured in such a way that Tomjanovich could taste the spinal fluid leaking into his mouth.[66][67] He later recalled that at the time of the incident, he believed the scoreboard had fallen on him.[68] The doctor who worked on Tomjanovich said "I have seen many people with far less serious injuries not make it" and likened the surgery to Scotch taping together a badly shattered eggshell.

Man you are just tit for tat...and absolutely have to have the last word--just like girlfriends I've had in the past.
You're clever and you want everybody to know it.
I get it.
Just take a Midol and give it a rest, okay?

If you want to argue facts/opinions, by all means we can.
But if you want to act like a kid with posts like that, no thanks.
Feel free to show me all the "funny stuff" you claim I post. I know you won't because it doesn't exist, and you'll just reply again with something awfully childish.
So, carry on...
