Burrow needs to play to protect himself, not win, for now.

The Bengals aren’t going to win anything, so if they’re determined to keep him under contract he needs to collect his money and wait until he can land with a contender. In order to guarantee he’s in one piece by that time he should
- release the ball at the top of his drop no matter what; just pick a receiver and sling it. Never take a hit
- free rusher = give yourself up
- never, ever scramble. Ever.
- when he’s picked off, run away from the ball carrier
He put his body on the line for LSU because that really was “one team, one heartbeat.” And he wanted to prove he was elite. This ain’t that, and he’s already proven everything - it’s a failure of an organization paying him to sell tickets and merchandise. He needs to play accordingly, prioritizing his body in order to be in peak condition upon free agency.

This is a really bad thread man.

Yeah, that worked out well for Carson Wentz.

Why put your body on the line for a team that isn’t committed to winning and you know can’t win, when you can wait 5 years while getting paid millions and then join a contender?

So let’s play out your hypothetical: Explain to me how a guy noticeably playing scared for the next four years and not winning shite for a franchise that had multiple recent playoff runs with Andy Dalton is going to demand top dollar in free agency. Fascinated to hear how this works.

He’s a winner. He doesn’t have the attitude to just lay down. But hopefully he can make it out of his rookie contract without tearing himself up too much and get to a team who can protect him and he’ll win.

Because he signed a contract and is being paid. He knew what kind of organization he was joining.

Just stay 8-8, put up big numbers and take the hits that don’t incapacitate you. Soon as you’re a UFA, run like hell.

Burrow is the first young QB to get drafted by a bad team with a bad OL if you read this board
This is what comes with the territory when you go first overall friends

What you are describing is called playing scared. Go look at Carson Wentz, how’s that working out for him?

Not sure if serious. We were all saying the same thing about Murray to the Cards too.

They have the 5th or 6th most cap space this off-season. They have enough money to sign Taylor Moton or Trent Williams, and a veteran starter at guard. And they can take Sewell or Slater with the 5th pick. Jonah Williams wasn’t trash last year either and was essentially a rookie. There’s a realistic road for them to have a top 5-10 OL going into next season, on paper at least. It’s not unheard of, the Browns literally just did it from 2019 to 2020 by signing Conklin and drafting Jedrick Wills.

Something tells me Joe Burrow has the grit , yard stick of dick, and bucket full of balls to play his goddamn heart out out for his home state. Joe Burrow fricks and he most likely fricks others to tears. He is well grounded, comes from a great family that taught him to work his dick in the dirt and ask for overtime. Joe Burrow isn't going to ride out the next four years hoping for a huge pay day. Joe Burrow is the ten foot gorilla standing in the corner with a chainsaw for a cock.
Cucks like you have completely pussified this once great nation.

Something tells me you’re dumb. The Bengals are owned and managed by Mike Brown’s idiot arse. He’s cheap, drafts flashy skill players and fricks up free agency. Joe will be picking himself up off the ground the next 8 years. He’s not looking for a payday. He’ll be looking for a job where he doesn’t get hit so much.

Honest question:
Would you give burrow a handy?

Yeah, Joe ain’t doing that. Do you even realize what kind of mentality the guy has?

You should read up on nfl contracts

So when the Bengals release/trade him for playing bad, is he supposed to explain to teams that he was playing badly on purpose? I’m sure that’ll get other teams lined up to sign him.
Luckily, I don’t think Burrow is the type of person who would ever do this.
