But this is where the NBA draws the line.

Yeah, I wonder why a majority black sports league is upset about police murdering black people and nothing being done about it
Sick whataboutism though

If all this results in is a rescheduled game it's kinda meaningless, just a temper tantrum.

If they actually have to forfeit, and they knew that ahead of time, that's a big arse slap in the face to Orlando huh? We're so confident we can win the series we'll just skip this one

If they really want to make a stand, and if their cause is really more important to them than basketball, they'd leave the bubble altogether.

You mean Adam Silva isn’t going to put forward a team that’s down 1-3 and kick out the team with the reigning MVP on it for boycotting a game?

Crazy.

Just because it's predictable doesn't mean it's not nuts. He's conceding authority of the league to a bunch of overgrown children who have absolutely no fricking idea what they're angry about.

It would be nuts to throw the best team in the East out of the playoffs because they skipped 1 game.

Your right wing nuts are supposed to be business savvy.

This is bad for business. Pushing the magic through is worse.

Plus I would wager the NBA viewer pool
Is more liberal than this board.

Nobody was ready to boycott when a ghetto black dude shot a 5 year in the head in front of his family because he was white.

Right wing nuts = sensible people who value evidence, reason and order

And I'm going to take a really wild guess and say that letting spoiled children breach agreements and contracts on false premises isn't a great "business savvy" move.

taking a stand for what they believe.

Can we agree this is one of the most overused terms in America today? Anti-war activists in World War I took a stand when they continued to protest knowing Wilson would imprison them under the Sedition Act. Ali took a stand when he chose prison and being stripped of the belt instead of fighting an unjust war in Vietnam. Nothing is in jeopardy for these players for boycotting this game, because mass American culture has become woke culture. There is no immediate loss of freedom for their "taking a stand".

If the murder of black people is cause to boycott games, should the Chicago Bulls even have a team?

I posted this in the thread on the Poli board: But imagine Bulls players trying to float the idea to Michael Jordan that you're going to boycott a PLAYOFF game for a random criminal who resisted arrest and got shot? MJ would pick four fat dudes out the stands to play with him.

I bet Silver cancels the rest of the playoffs. Players don’t want to play and very few are watching. Let the players out of this bubble hell they’ve complained about imo.

I don’t even mind guys taking a stand for what they believe in.

But boycotting a basketball and immediately running to Twitter and exclaiming “We demand justice!!” Or “We want change!!” isn’t accomplishing anything.
