Because they are trying to win the event on day one.... this is a marathon not a sprint. Now JT has been through this and looks in good shape however tomorrow afternoon is gonna be way different than this morning... those armatures will be gone by then.

Tiger needs to go to the range and get his driving under control.

Work a little on his chipping as well.

What a shitty ending to his round. Just terrible.

He needs to keep his driver in the bag..... his chipping sucks because his second shot always seems to be from the rough.....

JT just had one of his worst putting performances ever two weeks ago and finished 2nd. No surprise when he actually has his putter working

You could see that double coming. He had done an amazing job of duct taping together an even par round. But it never seemed legit. You just can’t be in the rough like that at a U.S. Open without it eventually biting you bigly.

Hope they enjoy it. USGA gave them Thursday. Those greens will be like a glass table top by Sunday.

That's a little misleading, but I get your point. Still played really well, and just made nothing.

Very true. He should concede another 20 yards and just hit 2 and 3 iron stingers off the tee like he did that one year at the British. Better to have to hit a longer club from the fairway than to chop it a little closer from the rough. His back just can’t handle having to consistently hit it from the thick stuff like it might have 15 years ago.

Honestly, I’m not sure he’s got the game to ever win another U.S. Open. Just too hard on his body. And I’m not sure he can score enough to go toe-to-toe with the bombers at the PGA.

At this point, I think he’s really only gonna be able to legit contend at Augusta (because he knows it so well, can shape the ball if he’s on, and can really hot with the putter on those greens) and the British when the course and conditions neutralize the bombers.

Phil trying to keep up his 2006 action by refusing to hit fairways at Winged Foot.

JT played exceptional today, i'm really looking forward to watching this evening wave to see if someone can catch him, that 65 today by JT will likely be the lowest round of the tournament from anyone.

Phil has gone the first four parts of soldier golf so far.

Left, left, left, right (now we just need left on 5)

That 65 today was the lowest round ever in a US Open at Winged Foot! He made it seem easy but it was exceptional!
