48-8-5, currently on a 9 game win streak

They need to win 15 of their last 21 games to break the NHL win record. 14 to tie.

I’m not a hockey fan but I always thought it was called goals.

Teams earn points when the win or go to overtime/shootout and lose.

How are points determined? And I’m not googling it.

2 for a win, 1 for a loss in OT or shootout.

This season came out of nowhere. I, like most B’s fans, expected to make the playoffs, but this has been a remarkable season. Addition of Bertuzzi today is a terrific move as well.

Watch them get swept in the first round like that insane Lightning team a few years ago

Yeah President Cup winners haven't exactly had a stellar record in the playoffs the past 10-15 years.

Columbus isn't in the playoffs this year so Boston should be good.

Side note/thread derailment, but I've always thought there should be a total of 3 points possible for a given game. Regulation winner gets 3, OT/Shootout Winner gets 2 and loser gets 1. It kind of hedges points against teams who have a lot of OT luck vs teams that are regularly closing it out within regulation.

The East is an absolute bloodbath. Meanwhile the west is turtle race with about 5 teams competing for Bedard ??

And if the ended today my Pens would have to play them in the first round.

ETA:The Pens would play the Canes. NYI would play the Bruins b/c the Pens would be the #1 WC(7th seed) and the Isles would be the 8.

Sorokin gives us a punchers chance in every game, but over 7 Boston would wear out the Islanders, lot of chasing the puck around I’m afraid.

You're right. I completely overlooked them when I looked at the standings.

Thanks.

They would play the Bruins. Good luck.

The NHL playoffs are the most unpredictable of the 4 major sports.

Hockey is a pretty "random" game generally speaking.

Also, a goalie can singlehandedly win a playoff series.
