Would it, though?
I think so, yes.

Love is their 3rd best player, making $20mil+ and is probably a net negative in the NBA Finals.

CLE is kind of screwed anyway, just not good enough for GS, as their best hope is someone else can beat them in the West.

I don't think there is anyone worth the third pick in the draft. Trade for Love. Maybe he can reconfigure himself in Boston with Brad Stevens.

There are 8 guys in this draft with the potential to be studs. That 3 pick has a ton of value.

But you are taking a max contract back compared to a rookie deal. It's not just the third pick Boston is giving up. It's who they could sign with the money as well.

You're right, but even if you include that cap space Kevin Love is worth the #3 pick and then some.

Put it this way, even if you think Love is never going back to his Minnesota days, he's one of 4 guys in the NBA who averaged at least 16 points and 10 boards on 50% eFG% or higher. The other 3 are KAT, Anthony Davis, and Andre Drummond, and Kevin Love had the highest Win Share out of the group. You'd be fricking ecstatic if the 3rd pick ends up as good as Love.

this is a two star draft with Simmons and Ingram.
That's very ignorant and naive. When Draymond Green was drafted, did you know he was going to be a star caliber player? or even Steph for that matter? or Klay?

I think so too but we can still dream right?

Personally I would like to see him in Boston. But if he's smart, he'll continue to play second fiddle to RW in OKC.

No he's not. He's a injury prone defensive liability that is inconsistent in his only area of expertise. If Ainge makes that trade he should be fired on the spot. Its a terrible deal in every way for Boston

Love's contract is an asset, Ryan Anderson is about to make more than him.

Edit: his contract is also essentially irrelevant to Cleveland, unless you care about saving Dan Gilbert money on his luxury tax bill

defensive liability

Teams take risks on these types of players all over the league. Half the league sucks on Defense or just simply doesn't play any.

Ainge has been one of the top GM's in the league for a while now. I would trust his judgement more than the MSB posters.

Besides the two you've mentioned what others? And his lack of comparable production from Minn to Cleveland is likely due to scheme than it is skill.

They really are screwed either way. You get rid of Love and you lose your leading rebounder for a pick that will save you money but might very well be worthless. LeBron doesn't have a lot of time.

Awful Trade for Boston. Love's stock has fallen. Boston is looking to be contenders, not just playoff fodder.

So the cavs trade the first pick and more and then 2 years later get the third pick back. That'd be hilarious

Sunk cost, you gotta do what's best in the now regardless of what happened in the past.

shite they gave Tristen Thompson a boatload of money just to rebound. Dude made his contract in the finals last year mainly on rebounding. If they let Love go, they are fricked unless they get someone who can get them those numbers in that system. A Ray Allen type player. That's what it's going to take. I am not sure who's out there. I don't think LeBitch is interested in the draft and molding a rookie.

I'd take Murray, I think he can play at a last season McCullom level relatively soon.

As much as I've been trashing Love, he's just more of a bad fit in Cleveland.

Cavs need 3-and-D that can play multiple positions. Love has the 3 but no D. He can only play PF, but Lebron's a better PF than him, and PF is probably Lebron's best position at this point in his career. He has no natural spot on this roster.

I think Boston's a great landing spot for him. There's enough players there that can mask his deficiencies, and he'd get his scoring volume back. Cavs would need to get a 3rd team involved because they have no use for the draft pick. They need two role players that can hit the ground running, preferably undervalued 3-and-D guys.
