It's not ok, but his obvious shortcomings in a number of areas and the fact that he is a Top 5-10 coach all time really should have nothing to do with each other.

I am no BK fan,obviously, but one true story about his playing LSU/Dale Brown in the NCAA's always made me laugh. He was talking to the media after beating LSU in the closing minutes of the semi finals & he made this jewel: "I was worried there at the end till I looked down at the other bench & saw Dale Brown sitting there". Same game in which BK slammed a phone down on the scorer's table, shattering it, yet, no T. Dale once challenged him to fight naked in a small room.

Its a shame that no one ever called him on his bullshite and how he treated people. If someone had beaten the shite out of him he might could have been turned into a decent person.

Bob Knight lost recruiting battles to Pete Bell because he didnt want to get dirty. Butch McRae and Neon were thug POS and I'm glad Knight knew better.

I never heard of knight hitting a player, but if true it is a disgusting act. That said it doesn't give you a competitive advantage like paying players does. Probably gives you a competitive disadvantage.
