If Napier guides the Cajuns this year to the type of season that would have LSU beating on his door, more power (and obviously money) to him. Would be happy for the guy and thankful for what he did with our program.
At the same time, very tough to imagine (short of some sort of major internal scandal) Orgeron being fired just two seasons after one of the greatest seasons ever college football.
Would it take another 0.500 season, or would it have to be worse than that for the trigger to get pulled?

I'd put Georgia above both those schools if I was a betting man. But then again, if either school has an opening and he gets the call it's not like he's turning them down.
Georgia nor A&M are getting rid of Kirby or Jimbo for several years. With the college football playoff going to expand (only a matter of when) both of these schools benefit with those coaches to try and make something happen at all costs to win a championship.

Napier is holding out for an elite program like Tennessee
Well which is it? An elite program, or Tennessee?

It's cute that every school's fans believe they got their first choice.
I know it hurts the feelings of Lafayette fans, but Beamer apparently was South Carolinas first choice.

I don't think Bama is going to get Dabo like many claim.
By the time Saban retires, Dabo will have been at Clemson nearly 20 years. He has no reason to leave to basically be in the same position as Alabama (in the CFP every year), yet a much tougher road to get there. And he’s paid a lot and is Clemson football at this point. Dabo will retire at Clemson.

Lulz. AU never talked to him.
If true, I wouldn’t be bragging about that with who Auburn ended up with. I’d be more upset with my AD for not talking to Napier

A guy who'd never been a HC before?

That has to be one of the best, most appropriate memes I’ve seen in quite a while. Well played, sir, well played.

It’s discussed many times on this board how ESPN has so much control over college football. Short of some idiot intern putting up the Lafayette Leopards logo, it appears ESPN is now using the Louisiana sports reference, just like they use “Nevada” for Nevada-Reno.

quote:Because there are two schools under the University of Louisiana banner, Louisiana Lafayette and Louisiana Monroe. Neither was ever U of L when their names changed. One was University of Southwestern University and the other was Northeast Louisiana University. Neither pays there bills with checks that say University of Louisiana.
Why does this bother y'all?

This. The truth hurts - even though I personally thought Napier was the better choice.
Napier wanted the job and it fit what he was waiting for.

Doesn’t bother me. I think it’s weird that the Lafayette is left out. Little man syndrome I guess.

ISU HC Matt Campbell turned down football programs when those opened up but I guess he is waiting for something bigger.

Where did I see that comment before? Anyone know?

Wait until you find out why Redneck Ray ultimately went with him and you’ll know why we have no faith in him, Beamer, or the future of the program.
