they already took Wrestlemania from a US city.
WrestleMania has been going to the highest bidder for years dude. If someone offers you $250 million to host your premier event AND they let you keep all revenue from the event - ticket sales, merch, and concession - you absolutely take it.

only way ucla, usc, and several others in BIg can compete in NIL era..

SEC teams had been cheating way more than anyone else for decades to get those top heavy rosters. SEC fans of certain teams can’t handle that they may not be the most talented team on the field anymore and that their coaching is terrible in the conference top to bottom

2 billion is a hard # to turn down.
In hindsight, EA Sports and UCLA should have just given Ed O'Bannon 5 million dollars + a cut of royalties when he first grumbled.

Every team, stadium, arena, jersey, athlete, and uniform in the B1G will have to be covered in sponsorships for it to work.
I don’t think so… they’ll make the money back in the activities surrounding the gameday experience… it’ll be interesting to see what else they actually own… I’m sure the play is to monopolize the whole Saturday College football experience

I'm going to be the old guy in the nursing home cussing at the tv when I see LSU vs Notre Dame in Jeddah or some other Saudi islamic dumpster.
The college football we all grew up on is long gone.

The B1G plans to form B1G Enterprises with a small investment from an outside firm that would maximize current league earnings, as well as generate new revenue streams.
There are discussions of allowing programs with bigger brands to receive a higher percentage of revenue. I thought this would be a sticking point with the smaller programs, but they appear to be on board with the plan.
The Big 12 was negotiating to sell its media rights to an equity firm with a seat on the Big 12 board. The B1G would only sell a minimal share of its rights with no voting power.

it is amazing how much tOSU, Michigan, and other big 10 fanbase delude themselves into thinking they weren't paying players pre-NIL

But then they all would have demanded $5 million

I don't think dudes in the middle east care about U.S. college sports, but maybe I'm wrong.
I don't understand how so many people still don't get that college sports is just the vessel.
Better football is like 14th on the list of benefits these money people are after.

But players gotta get paid
These greedy fricking vampires would have done this regardless of the players ever getting NIL. They'll blame the players to shield themselves, but make no mistake, the people pushing this crap were always headed down this path.

ignoring 2014?
SEC has better proximity to talent than the big 10 outside of OSU
Coaching played a role too, SEC just had better coaches during the peak than the majority of the Big 10. Even 2010 Auburn had Gus running the offense and GC was a bad head coach but a good enough DC.
The idea that Michigan and OSU players weren't getting compensated is ridiculous.

Why would the Big Ten need more money to be competitive? The top of the conference already clears the top of the SEC.
I just assume the Big Ten and SEC would come together at some point to form a premier league with equal footing. Big Ten may have other plans. Perhaps they are looking to kill the SEC as they did the Pac 10. How many SEC teams could they pouch with 2B and counting?

Gross. College football is turning into shite.
Looks like College Football is turning into a competitor to the NFL. Next thing you know players will be making more than head coaches and players will be traded like trading cards.

are they?
Quick look at the top 50 recruits in Louisiana, Texas and Alabama show they are mostly going to the usual suspects within the footprint
Georgia and Florida are a bit more diverse. Florida has always had a ton of talent going everywhere. Everyone recruits Florida and Atlanta
Portal has changed the depth that the dominate SEC teams had. No longer is Alabama 3 deep at safety or LSU 6 deep at corner every year
