And the more I look into it the more it seems that they should've taken Oregon over UCLA.

There are 12 million people in metro Los Angeles and if you throw in San Diego you have about 15 million. But if you stick to the 12 million in LA getting both UCLA and USC gets you more fans than the whole State of OR. If I was the Big Ten I'd take ND, Stanford, Oregon, and Washington. Lock up the West Coast and ND.

The SEC takes the rest of the ACC that matters: FSU, UNC, UVA, and make Clemson pay South Carolina a territorial rights fee or Miami instead.

Yeah All the expansion bs, and just how the sport has become so focused on the playoff, and become even more regionalized

“Literally every Power Five conference school not in the SEC has reached out to the Big Ten,” a source said about schools wanting to join the conference. “University presidents, athletic directors, senior women administrators, you name it.”

Not sure why the bolded text was included. Are they trying to frame up a gender issue? Why is the gender of the senior administrators relevant?

Yep, Los Angeles isn't a top 25 market for CFB even when USC is good.

with exceptions for 2003, 2007, and 2019, I miss college football in the 1980s!

It would be pretty interesting for the BIG to go into SEC territory and grab Clemson/FSU/Miami

Interesting that neither Virginia nor UNC is on his list. Perhaps that adds some credence to the rumor that those two schools have already been in contact with the SEC. I get the feeling many things are being worked out behind the scenes right now, and sometime in the not-too-distant future the final form of college football will reveal itself in the sudden collapse and partition of the ACC.

Why would Clemson have to pay South Carolina a territorial rights fee, but FSU or Miami doesn't have to pay one to Florida?

2% of the LA market is more valuable than the entire tuscaloosa market

this doesnt even matter. tv metros dont matter. brands do. thats why UCLA and USC are in the big ten and oregon isnt

I think Fox and ESPN would disagree. Texas getting into the SEC was about tv markets since they are much more popular than Aggie.

FSU and Miami have more national appeal than Clemson. Florida is a huge state. The third biggest in the country. More people to go around. South Carolina is a lot smaller with no major tv markets and Clemson for all we know just caught lightening in a bottle with Dabo. They last won it all under Danny Ford about 40 years ago. That's the last time they were relevant.

This is a ridiculous statement. So I guess you can apply the same to Alabama right? They caught lightning in a bottle with Saban right?

You can say that about any program that has reached elite status

Nope it’s about brands

The SEC already had its foothold in the state of Texas for the tv market
