There is something very wrong with a sport where the most basic of actions causes extensive damage to the body.

These pitcher labs are pushing the limit for what the human arm can do. These dudes who throw 97, 98 Heat with 90+mph sliders just put immense stress on their elbows.

True, but you can be a raging a-hole and not be a clubhouse cancer. Bauer is both.

Do you have any proof he’s a clubhouse cancer? Why do you think that?

This is admittedly playing semantics,
but I don’t this Bauer is being blackballed as much as he blackballed himself. There is a lot a reactionary sentiment out there from people whose worldview was vindicated by the apparent resolution of the charges against him. But there is obviously also more about him that has kept 30 teams from
Signing him
Over the winter.

Is it even worth it to give a starting pitcher a long term contract anymore? It feels like every pitcher is just gonna miss significant time with injuries now.

I think you'll see more contracts like the Red Sox had with John Lackey where they get an extra year at a discount rate if TJ happens.

Cleveland, a team that would win 93 games, dealt him in 2019 for a washed up Yasiel Puig. He was their #2 starter behind Beiber. Why would a team deal that level of player except that he was an absolute pain in the arse in the clubhouse and it was starting to take its toll?

And the Dodgers are still paying him to stay the hell away.

Very much the latter.

This is such a bad take. We don't know these guys. The ones you think are the greatest guys on earth could be raging assholes away from the cameras. We only see what they want us to see. There's likely a significant percentage of professional athletes that you think are amazing people that wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. We. Do Not. Know. These people. At all.

And that's fine. But don't be the guy that believes Craig Biggio is way to ethical to have not juiced the last 10 years of his career. Or that Andy Petite really only tried steroids once. Or that Javy Lopez and that beautiful smile is way above that, etc...I don't think that makes those guys bad people, just underscoring that we don't know them. And Trevor Bauer being a douche canoe shouldn't prevent you from wanting him on your favorite team. At least he's open about it. Surely you can at least respect that.

In Cleveland he was unavailable for much of the playoffs in 2016 due to a drone accident. Tribe lost to Cubs in 7 games in WS and could have definitely used a healthy Bauer. Then later he got frustrated over getting yanked in a loss to KC and threw a ball from pitchers mound over the CF wall…Tito Francona walks to the the mound and you could clearly see him saying “WTF is wrong with you?”). Who know if he was a clubhouse cancer but they were clearly done with his antics…or at least the positive didn’t outweigh the negative.

Yeah if you can't play for Tito then that's a "you" problem. Him, Bochy and Snit are arguably the best players managers in the game.

Bauer is a tumor.

You are using bad analogies. Steroids were legal then and though it may not have been ethical it wasn't against the rules. And none of those guys you mentioned were known a-hole cancers like Bauer.

And you can be a douche and still be a good teammate. See ARod and Barry. But if you can't play for a manager like Tito Francona than you have deeper issues.

Sorry man, Bauer is a cancer and just a bad guy. I'm not budging on this. There is a reason no MLB team has signed him in 2 years. He's cancer. If I'm on an island, that's fine. But I'm not changing my mind.

They aren’t signing him because MLB front office is scared of the backlash from the woke culture and media

I guarantee you if that he never gets accused of assault or whatever he’s still pitching in the MLB. Which would imply that it has nothing to do with his personality

Again, if you can't play for Tito Francona, than there is a problem. Why else would a playoff team, which Cleveland was in 2019, they won 93 games, ship off their #2 starter for a washed-up Puig?

You guys trying to defend Bauer and making him out to be some sort of martyr is laughable.

And players such as Mookie Betts have come out saying how they have no issues with Bauer and he was a good teammate.

The fact that dugouts have been and still are filled with raging A-holes and not one MLB scout … zilch … came to see Bauer pitch this spring ought to tell you something.

Baseball isn’t being woke, they’re avoiding distractions and potential headaches and controversies with squeezing people like Bauer out. Fans don’t care, they just want their bread and circuses, but teams have to clean up the s**t.

There’s also been a report that MLB has info about more situations involving Bauer than the one that caused the headlines.

I don’t know if Bauer is MAGA AF but he does have diarrhea of the mouth … I understand that is part of his appeal to some … and IMO that makes his predicament worse. And before someone screams Freedom of Speech, all the First Amendment says is that the federal government of the US can’t put you in jail for what you say. Anybody else can inflict consequences on you and your boss can fire your arse and people can refuse to hire you for what you say.

Wow, 100 MPH fastballs with 2500 rpm spin rates are bad for the elbow. Who knew?
