In my day it was Chuck Taylor canvas. Low or high tops meant nothing because neither gave any support to the ankle. Had to wear two pairs of socks or the blisters were terrible.

Before my senior year I got a pair of leather Adidas. I carried these from the locker room to the gym and back. Didnt want to risk any injury to them.

Ah yes, Converse TD's, Converse Weapons (Bird & LSU, hated Lakers), Dan & Dave Reebok graphalite pump in '92, and Spot-Bilt GB5 of the early 80's. Oh the memories !
