its funny that you say this, UM is a good program whether you want to admit it or not. BTW i like how SEC fans seem to forget that the following year UM beat florida

The argument was that UM 2003 wasn't as good as USC/LSU/OU 2003.

1. UM did not beat Florida the following year.

2. I dont think UM beating Florida in 2007 is very relevant to this argument.

Ask the Vegas experts who would have been favored in a USC Florida matchup after the bowls and it was USC. Those peoples opinions are what matter in who is best. Not Joe blow who really does not know shite.

points spreads are not necessarily an indicator of who they think is better, but rather, who they think the bettors will favor and what number they can get away with.

Maybe, maybe not. That is not really my point. Throughout the end of last season, MJRuffalo consistently used this site as his source for claiming that USC was better than UF. Then in this very post he claimed that most folks dont know shite, and that USC would have been favored over UF at the end of the year.

Thus, I show him the very source he cites as gospel to show that he is incorrect in stating that USC would have been favored over UF at the end of last season. Strangely, he never responded to my post the first time, so I thought maybe he had "overlooked" it, and I was reiterating.

I think that average final ranking should be a metric, as it combines both consistency and titles.

This is the best single criterion, in my opinion, for the reasons you mention.

If you made a composite of the final Coaches' Poll from every season from 2004-2008, the list would be:

1. USC (1 No. 1, 5 Top 10, 5 Top 25) 119
2. Texas (1 No. 1, 4 Top 10, 5 Top 25) 99
3. Ohio State (0 No. 1, 3 Top 10, 5 Top 25) 90
4. Oklahoma (0 No. 1, 3 Top 10, 5 Top 25) 81
5. LSU (1 No. 1, 3 Top 10, 4 Top 25) 79
6. Georgia (0 No. 1, 4 Top 10, 4 Top 25) 75
7. Virginia Tech (0 No. 1, 3 Top 10, 5 Top 25) 72
8. Florida (2 No. 1, 2 Top 10, 5 Top 25) 71
9. Auburn (0 No. 1, 2 Top 10, 4 Top 25) 66
10. West Virginia (0 No.1, 3 Top 10, 3 Top 25) 56

read more, post less. i made a point about SEC fans forgetting that UM beat florida in a bowl game. the poster replied "well that was when ron zook was coaching" nonsense. i pointed out that Urban was there coach when they played so you cant use that lame excuse.

If you are two dumb to figure out how you failed to follow the conversation then I'm not going to explain it to you.

Florida not being #1 in that poll and LSU not at least #5 make that article/link no more credible than a random post on a message board.
