From what I saw from Bilbo, I was always dumbfounded he couldn't start at QB fro Georgia Tech. He had to be better than Ball or he just played lights out that night.

Agree with everything except, Hahnville is loaded in 5-A. They should be pre-season#1.

Not only that, he was smart. His GPA and test scores could have got him in Ga Tech without being an athlete. Had to have been a conflict with the coach or OC. The kid could play. I would bet the WM players after the season would have said he was the best player they faced all year long, including Benson.

uhhh St. Fred's is never horribly bad so you can go frick yourself...but anyway yea I'm ready for that week 3 match up their QB is pretty stout...and their linebackers are good also

I heard the contary. Im hearing the QB race over at St Fred is up for grabs. Something like either a RB playing QB or a kid thats never played the position before. Doesn't sound too "solid" to me. And with a bad offensive line I can't see St. Fred winning 5 games. Espeically without a QB.

SP has a rediculous amount of talent on the sideline for a 1a school. They have two of the top juniors in the state and nation along with a few other D1 prospects.

You can't be that stupid. A hurricane that that totally annihilated three communities that was home to 10000+ people is a good thing. And the football down there was always good. SP is basically Port Sulphur. 2005 PS(the year of the storm) would have been something serious and was probably better than any of the recent SP teams. You forget four players left from there and gave Bastrop their championships? SP lost players because of the storm not gained any.

So is West Monroe the 5A preseason favorite this year?

I actually like Hahnville in 5a this year. 4a Salmen looks really good, and in 3a I think St James is going to shine getting from under Curtis. 2a and 1a are about as close to locks as you can get in JC and SP.

maybe you are mixing up Bastrop and SP.

Bastrop only won titles because of Hurricane Katrina.

According to some poll posted last week. I don't think they should be RIGHT NOW though. They don't have a backup QB or a fullback right now. The line will be great and the defense is always fantastic. Those are 2 big question marks though imo. One big hit on the QB and they go downhill quickly.

most HS have a backup QB that, if they had to go to, would suffer heavily

ehh talent wise you are probably right but overall 2 of the best teams in 5A are in their district and that will take a toll on their season.

True, but it's ratcheted up a notch when you run the option and the kid has to know the reads.

Supa, the kid that ran the kickoff back against STM is the QB this year. As far as UofWM, I haven't heard of any transfers yet...

also episcopal high school from baton rouge...

That would make my day if true. I played for them back in some of their better years, when their current coach was an assistant under a former Ascension Catholic coach.

They traditionally turn out a bunch of smart, gutsy players but not necessarily a bunch of great athletes.

When they have a great athlete at a skill position, like former NFL player Jimmy Williams at RB/CB/KR, all those guys are able to open holes to let him take it to the house.

Just wish it had been Oak Grove last season, bc we had the best shot ever. but we always get shite luck and end up having to travel to Meridian

where we get shite calls.. even if we beat them at their house previously in the season..

Meridian beat OG 42-28 (OG scored w/ 20 seconds left to make it that close) and 28-0 last year. I don't think luck or bad calls had anything to do with it. Meridian won South State and got home field advantage as a result of recent rule changes (keep up Beau).

OG's chances to win 6A title are much better this year. Meridian lost a lot. OG should have a cake walk to Jackson this year. Unfortunately, Madison Central may have one of the best teams in the country this year. That is, if they can finally get by SP.
