Yeah...because comparing an 80s-90s QB stats to one in the 2020s is completely legit.

Of the Top 20 in career passer rating, only two guys, Steve Young and Peyton Manning, started their career before 2000. Oh...and Lamar Freaking Jackson is currently #1 on the list.

I agree.

But I would also say that athletes from the ‘80s and ‘90s had a greater gap between what had been achieved and what could be achieved, including Marino’s 1984 season that (in my opinion) people overemphasize.

Great leaps forward are more difficult as the years go by. Marino took the passing TD record from 36 to 48. If the NFL still played 16 games, someone would have to throw over 70 to break Manning’s record by the same percentage. And the next QB would have to hit somewhere around 100. At some point there’s only so many TD’s that can thrown in X amount of time.

Someone would have to run sub 19.00 to break the 200 m. record in the same fashion as Michael Johnson in ‘96. Pushing around 31 ft. for a long jump comparable to Bob Beamon’s increase in ‘68.

So in terms of raw stats, recent athletes have the advantage. But in terms of beating records by a significant margin and in memorable fashion, previous generations had it easier.

Early 90s was a strange time - transition from the 80s. Caught between the past and the changing present.

They got to a Super Bowl because he

1. Got hurt his rookie year and managed to get another high draft pick in Chase
2. Was on a rookie contract

Burrow isn’t good enough to carry a team without elite offensive weapons

You obviously didn't watch the Dolphins at that time. Their defense was terrible

Seeing some of the outfits Burrow wears some might argue they are turning him more into Ray Finkle

Marino fans are like a cult. It’s always someone else’s fault. Even when Marino threw three picks in a loss at FSU that blew the 1980 Pitt team’s national title chances with four NFL Hall of Famers and at least two Pro Bowlers, you can blame everyone else.

Because Flacco’s old arse throws it away with any bit of pressure.

No defense?

Five times in his career Marino had a top 10 defense in points allowed. Three times he had a top five defense. Twice he had a defense that led the league in fewest points allowed. How'd that work out for two-turnover Danny?

No defense? He was drafted by a team that was just in the Super Bowl. Do you think David Woodley's passing got them there or was it the Killer B's defense?

OMG, THIS! THIS! THIS!

It's like Teflon Dan can get no blame. He choked in big games AT EVERY LEVEL, even in high school.

He had a great team around him at Pitt and he choked against Florida State throwing THREE interceptions and then in 1981, he threw FOUR interceptions against Penn State. Hard to win when your QB is a turnover machine.

Check out Marino's stats in his post-season losses. Stats don't lie:

'83 playoff team vs Seattle 2 Ints 77.6 QBR
'84 SB vs SF 2 ints 66.9 QBR
'85 vs NE at home 2 ints 54.9 QBR
'90 vs Buffalo 2 ints 72.1 QBR
'92 vs Buffalo at home 2 ints 56.5 QBR

The only playoff loss he played well
'94 vs SD 0 ints 109.8 QBR

1995 vs Buffalo 3 ints 63.4 QBR
1997 vs NE 2 ints 29.3 QBR!
1998 vs Denv 2 ints 65.5 QBR
1999 vs Jax 2 ints 34.6 QBR!

In the regular season, he was good enough to beat the '85 Bears. However, in the post-season, he couldn't beat the '85 Patriots - at home - in Miami - and was badly outplayed by the "great" Tony Eason. Zero rings at every level. Choking was in his DNA.

The seven myths about Dan Marino:

Burrow made it to the Super Bowl with a team that clearly needed o-line and defensive help ... then publicly called out the Bengals for not wanting to pay top dollar for his #1 and #2 receivers

Throws it away instead of taking a sack. Exactly what you’re supposed to do.

BTW, Flacco throws away 1.5 more balls per 100 passes. HUUUUUGE difference huh.

Flacco also managed a pressure rate of 5% less than burrow, a sign that he’s getting the offense into the right blocking scheme.

These retarded lsu fans aren't going to like this. Facts get in the way of their excuses.
