Just tell me when to get my guns and tell me where to shoot. I'm going solo on Ohio 19 in the mean time if he doesn't answer my question.

Would you like to make a wager about that??

Bread and circuses became the method that the ruling class of ancient Rome used to maintain their power and control of the people. What goes around, comes around. The billions in bailout money was the bread and I suppose college football will be the circus to placate the common people. God help us if
Congress gets their hooks into the BCS. If you think its bad now , wait until it becomes politically correct.

I suspect that College football will be like the housing market in a few years.
Barney Frank and Chris Dodd have nothing to do since they fixed Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac.

Ohio State has had 3 chances to win the BCS.
Their 1 win took double overtime.

Why would they win more if there was a playoff?

We probably would have won in 98 and, of course, 02. We also would have had decent chances in 05 and 96 (not saying we would win those years, but we could have). I'm not even talking about 06 or 07.

Are you saying anything more than OSU has finished in the top 4 or top 8 at the end of some seasons (pre-bowl), just like a group of other teams? Because, if you are, I'd like to know what you mean.

No. There are years we finished in the top 4/8 we wouldn't have won the NC, like 03, 06, 07, etc. There are others we would have had at least a decent chance (02, 98, 05, 96...). However, in those years we would have had a chance (besides 02), we did something to blow it in the reg season, so we didn't deserve a shot in a playoff.

Congress?

Too bad there's not an office within the executive branch that's specifically dedicated to antitrust law, so that Congress could do its job instead of worrying about this.

You know... after 2 full years of election coverage, I am sick to death of this partisan bickering. You know the 2012 campaigns are going to be kicking off in January 2010... can't I have a year off from this bullshite?

Personally if it gets us a playoff I'm all for it. ...and OSU would have had nothing in a playoff system. They wouldn't be able to cope with two tough games in a row.

there's a lot of money here at stake, if we get a playoff an SEC team will win the MNC at least 50% of the time, if not more.

With the way LSU plays in post season.. especially if it were top-2 bowls +1..

I'd like our chances against anyone.

Per this thing called the Constitution I don't think college football is within the purview of Congress.

I think I read your question wrong. I think I actually meant yes. Just read the rest of my response, that will answer your question.

Too late.... just kidding, as I was before. You make good points.

But, my point, was that yes OSU is there every year - that's a great thing for you, but you don't finish. To say, we would have done this or that in a championship playoff series is disingenious, until you start winning some championship bowl games in the current format. In fact, you've been dominated by the SEC.

So, I don't get your complaint, other than to wish that the rules were different, so as to wish that the results weren't the same.

This is some stupid shite. All we need is the government in the middle of football.

Is nothing sacred?
