Honestly, I like the BCS. I like the controversy. I don't think playoffs are drastically more "fair" or more entertaining. And if LSU had gotten screwed by the BCS, I'd probably be in favor of Barton's efforts.

All because Pete Carroll cries so much, and Barrack NoBama voiced his opinion about the need of a playoff system.

No. Jesus, no. This goes back at least to 2005 and is being pushed by a republican from Texas. Get over your hatred of the prez, just for a moment. It's irrational and a little pathetic.

The problem is the regular season - there is usually not a particularly clear 1 vs. 2. Neither BCS nor any other postseason system will change this.

I love how Congress gets involved in things that it has no business in

You're obviously an idiot, and can't see how this is indeed an Anti-trust case against the BCS WHICH IS business for congress.

he government has zero reason to get involved with college football, ESPECIALLY at this time.
yeah but Obama thinks there should be a playoff so of course Congress needs to get involved.

Another ignorant fool thinking that Obama is to blame for everything.

I'll iterate: looking into the BCS Anti-Trust started in 2005, three years before Barack Obama.

There's been plenty of times recently OSU could have won NC's with 4 or 8 team playoffs, FWIW.

Really? Pretty bold statement there. The past 2 times they couldn't beat the 1 team they needed to to win the NC.

The team that get rewarded most often, is the media's favorite team.

So basically a committee is gonna be created to decide BCS teams .... no more automatic qualifiers. Awesome.

Would you like to make a wager about that??

From 2005...

Some people are just looking for a reason to blame Obama. Barton is really a democrat

Now, I could give a shite, and I'm certainly no conspiracy theorist, but you should at least get your shite straight before bashing someone else for not doing the same thing.

No, it is Joe Barton (GOP) pushing this thing. LINK
He's done it for years now. LINK

And according to that article, Orrin Hatch (GOP) is putting it on his agenda too.

I know everyone here wants to dump this on Obama and this childish mantra of "socialism", but that dog dont hunt in this case.

Oh no you didn't. Don't try to show them facts about this investigation. It's all Obama's fault.

That wasn't the case in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, or 2007. Five out of the past seven years it was not the media darling that was rewarded FWIW.

The NCAA and the BCS schools get tax exempt status from the government as non-profit entities.

Perfectly within the governments purview to examine if those tax breaks are still warranted or to use that as a stick to force college football into doing something

Anti-trust case

Then OK, let government look at it (note: not change, look at it) SOLELY for that reason, and not compare it vs an 8 team playoff/say an 8 team playoff is more fair to determine an NC (I think they're doing strictly the former right now, which is good, I hope it's not eventually the latter, though).

That's just it. It's not Congress' job to change it and they're not going to change it. They're just gonna say that the BCS is a monopoly and dissolve it. This is going to ultimately force the NCAA to adopt a playoff system, which is the ONLY other option. To put it more bluntly, congress is not deciding playoff over BCS.
