Manfred recognized them as major leagues.
I just wish he'd gone up to 1952 instead of 1948. Hank Aaron would be in first place again.

Long time coming. This issue with not including these stats for years wasn't racism as many would like to believe, just data integrity. Large gaps in games, nonsensical figures, etc..
Last I checked, it had taken them over a decade to clean up all the stats the best they could.

Sounds pretty racist.

Everyone knows Negro League stats are mostly guesswork.

Professional baseballs newest WHIP leader according to BR pitched 22 innings during WW2

Yep! No way to verify those 120 mph fastballs from Satchel Paige.

PANDERING PANDERING PANDERING. I wonder how these recipients feel? I’d feel like a BELITTLED BAW

Anyone with Negro League stats added gets an asterisk*

Almost all of them aren't feeling much these days.

No women's baseball league stats included?
He's ticked

I'd be curious to know how many are verified stats vs word of mouth type of stuff. In the early days a lot of these players played against townies. They need to be acknowledged as they are important for the history of the game but their stats should be separated like baseball reference does for those coming from overseas.

More like mythological. Nobody knows what really happened in the League. It's a shame.
There was a concerted effort by the black free press to pump up the Negro Leagues to gain acceptance...
And they outdid their white counterparts in hyperbole which was no small feat in the 1920s...sell, sell, well.

Dumb in my opinion. The Negro League was a different league. That doesn't mean the players weren't awesome, because they showed they were once in the Major leagues.
Have a separate wing in the Hall and sperate data set highlighting them. Doesn't downplay anything they accomplished, it's just not the same.

This… my issue would be the quality of play. If the Negro Leagues can be a major league, why not make the SEC a major league 100 years from now? They’re almost certainly getting paid.

Ken Burns can research the hell out of anything...
But in his baseball doc, the Negro League stories come across as yarns.
Great ballplayers but there was no rigorous record keeping.
And some of the venues were basically sandlots.
Negro League stats are in the ether. Prejudice made them untrustworthy to fault of their own. The history is just weak.

Not having Satchel Paige in MLB during his prime is one of the great tragedies in baseball history.

Totally agree.
Is it a shame they weren’t in the MLB? Yes!
This is not righting a wrong. It’s changing facts.
