Barry Sanders is the GOAT RB

I was watching highlights of Barry Sanders on Youtube yesterday and was reminded of how incredible of a running back and player he was. He had it all, vision, elusiveness, speed, could cut on a dime and make defenders look silly.
I’ve heard it said that if Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith had switched places, Barry Sanders would have probably won 6 Super Bowls in the 90’s. He did more with less in Detroit than any other player I can think of.
I think it’s hard to argue against Barry for GOAT. If you don’t think it’s him, who is your choice?

Agreed. Followed by E Dickerson and a healthy Bo.

There have been many great running backs in the history of the NFL, but as far as I’m concerned, Barry Sanders will always be the GOAT

How many yards would he have running in that Dallas offense?

Agree. The guy was unbelievable.
Jim Brown was a close second, IMO.

Wish I was old enough to watch Barry and Thurman Thomas at Oklahoma State

He was the most explosive but he also had moments against good teams where’d he’d put up -2 yards going side to side the whole time. Great player obviously but I’d rather the Emmitt Smith type back who could get you tough yards between the tackles, even if he didn’t have Barry’s breakaway speed.

Nobody could run like Barry, nobody.

Barry would have probably ran for multiple 2,000 yard seasons if he were on those Dallas teams

Barry would have had an infinite number of yards on the Cowboys teams back then.

I prefer the power back if I was building an offense from the ground up. But Barry's talent was so unique and transcendent that he is my favorite back to watch. You don't see someone that much better among his peers who are all great athletes. But you did with Barry.

He may have had more yards but I don’t know if the Cowboys would have been a better team

When you factor in who he played for I tend to agree. Like a couple have already said, if he had played behind those very talented Cowboy offensive lines back then he would have a ton of yardage

This guy was a strong contender back before he got into some trouble

I think Earl Campbell is under represented in this argument constantly.

Greatest highlight reel player of all time. He would go for -2. 2. then 70 yards. Hard to sustain an offense like that.
Actually, the best RB to watch and to play was Walter Payton. He just played for awful teams. But, he could do it all.
Of course, Jim Brown, Emmitt Smith, Eric Dickerson and others could all stake a claim.

I gotta go with Faulk for most fun to watch imo.

Well he had to make those quick cuts to get by people, Earl Campbell just ran over them.

I only got to see the end of his career, but based on that and seeing the highlights of his beginning, I would agree. Best RB I've ever seen.
