As long as the player gets disciplined accordingly, why does it matter who technically issues the punishment? If they talk with any head coach, and the coach proposes something harsher than what the league was going to levy, shouldn't that be good enough?

Saban said this:

“We will handle that internally. We will have him do some things. I think it should affect his playing time in the future.”

He cannot even commit to a punishment.

What if Saban proposed a stiffer penalty than what the league was going to do?

He won’t be.

He will end up sitting out a bullshite game or even just part of a bullshite game.

He should have to miss multiple.

What he did is worse than targeting, ISO, and they miss only half of the next game.

If he sees that the punishment will meet/exceed what the league had in mind, then it kind of makes what the league was going to do redundant or pointless.

Let's say the league was going to give a 1 game suspension. They call up Saban and ask what he's going to do. Saban says a 1.5 game suspension. At that point, what's the need for the SEC to issue a statement saying he's suspended for 1 week?

There is no point to do that. But at the very least they need to be transparent about the punishment.

The guy threw 3-4 punches at another guy while he was on the ground.

But he tweeted an apology tho, so it's all good. 4 plays against the citadel and call it a day

Should be suspended, just as Fairley should've been suspended when he speared Murray.

Is next week's participation chart not transparent enough? If you see that he played, be my guest to storm the SEC office or Mal Moore building demanding answers.

Bama suspensions somehow always fall on easy games.

I'm not excusing Davis' behavior and there no reason that he shouldn't be suspended. Jesus Christ, Saban. Just suspend him yourself and move tf on.

This among other things, is why Davis lost his shite

I'm sure his douchebag arse thought 71 had just punched his friend and he stuck up for him. I saw it live and also thought it was a punch. Missouri was chippy af and had already sent an Alabama player to the locker room(he's questionable this week). Alabama players sure as shite were aware of it and Davis acted out.

Problem with your theory is that we will never know what the SEC was going to give, nor will they ever say what they were going to give.

I dont really care, its not enough to warrant anything more than a game.

the SEC is an absolute joke if this is true. Throw punches in a game, no ejection and the suspension is delayed 3 games until it's most convenient for Alabama's season.
