Bama player throws multiple punches in game. SEC lets Saban handle internally.

What a joke. No more conspiracy theories guys. Just the golden child dictating to the conference how things should be handled.

Other teams have been punished for less.

Yeah, saw this live....was totally expecting a call from upstairs to review it. Very surprised, but not surprised that they didn't suspend him for a game.

Don’t worry, they’ll suspend him for their upcoming bye week opponent. Hopefully the bye can give them a good fight.

What if Saban proposed a stiffer penalty than what the league was going to do?

Unless its at least a game suspension than its not stiffer. You get kicked out of a game for accidentally making helmet to helmet contact....3-4 sucker punches to a dude on the ground is worse that that.

Seems Saban is Judge, jury, and executioner.

Agreed, so let's revisit this discussion and withhold judgement until at least next week.

Because it's not his punishment to announce?

The punishment (using that word very lightly) is coming from bama.

Supposedly he’s missing the first half of the citadel game, I shite you not. A couple laps and a half of a meaningless game. That’ll teach him!

The conference can suspended a player after reviewing the film.

As long as the player gets disciplined accordingly, why does it matter who technically issues the punishment? If they talk with any head coach, and the coach proposes something harsher than what the league was going to levy, shouldn't that be good enough? If that's the case, then I don't think the conference has to do anything more than say, "after discussions with the university, we believe that the issue is being appropriately addressed...(something about not condoning the players actions, etc)."

Why would a bunch of Bama alums suspend a player from Bama?

If this doesn't make you laugh, nothing will. It is beyond comical. Remember: you aren't playing to just win on Saturday. You have to play Sunday through Friday as well. They have everything locked down there too.
