AC, counting this yr, has exactly 2 years of coaching experience in college baseball. As an assistant. Riser is also a weenie alum & has been a college baseball HC with a proven winning record as well as his assistant coaching background. Having the "name" has nothing to do with being a successful major college head coach. He's in the perfect place for him now, learning under a HOF coach at a school where his recruiting efforts will always result in top 10 classes. Going from a hitting/recruiting coach to being a HC is a huge step.

Make no mistake, our AD has been clear that every search for every coach will be a national effort to find the best candidate. He doesn't place Tulane connections as highly as you might think if he can get the right guy.

I would hate to lose Pierce, but I finally trust the AD to make the right call if we do.

Oh please. Being the recruiting coordinator is more tedious then actually coaching. 2 years is enough for Andy considering he's a smart guy, played professionally, and also scouted.

He's going to get a big time gig in the next year or 2 and you can eat your words.

Riser is a Tulane grad with a bio mechanical engineering degree who has been a coach ever since he stopped playing. Both of these guys are good enough for Tulane and the AD will realize that rather quickly

nice move

this shite just annoys the frick out of me, MU should be hiring a new coach, and trying to improve the program, instead, its another couple years of TJ.

Boy, when Mack was at Houston, he looked competent, what a smoke screen, the guy is grossly incompetent as an AD of a Major school.

dude, the money is there, people keep regurgitating the same story of being 32mil underfunded, etc from several months ago.

Jeff City gave them their money, and Donors have been donating.

He's been incompetent as an AD of Missouri, has nothing to do with BLM or Glick

According to a much more reliable source, there wasn't any truth to Pierce being close going to Bama at this time

Longhorn bloggers are campaigning for Pierce now after being turned down by McDonnell, O'Sullivan, and Schlossnagle.

quote:

With strong ties to the state of Texas, Pierce emerged as a dark-horse candidate -- and now, the favorite candidate-- for the Texas job. He has only been at Tulane for two years, so it would be an early departure, but Pierce only stayed at his first job at Sam Houston State for three seasons. A former Rice assistant, Pierce had once been pegged as 80-year-old Rice head coach Wayne Graham's eventual replacement, but it would be hard for Pierce to say no to Texas.

Tulane has 2 great options in Andy and Riser. Riser could be a Rick Jones type, but I don't see Andy's destination job being Tulane. I wonder if Andy takes it or is waiting for something bigger.
