Yea, I had the Under and FSU.

Turned it off when Clemson punted with a smile and then peaked at this board 10 minutes later.

no, it was fishy

zero reason to punt for fsu, you wont get it back with no more than 30ish seconds left, inside your 30, if you get it back.

and they kept going further and further back. smells horrible, that ending.

They punted on 4th and 30 from their own 20 and two timeouts. It was a logical decision.

That's why some gamblers have ulcers. Taking FSU and 9.5 and having that happen.

Gut wrenching if you had FSU +9.5

In no way was it logical

By punting, best case scenario was they get the ball back with 25 seconds and the ball around the 10 yard line or so down 4. Meaning they need a td. If they get a first instead game is over

If they go for it and miss it, the scenario is they get the ball back with 25 seconds now down 7 with the ball at their 25 yard line assuming Clemson makes the FG where the kicker was 1 for 4. Still needing a td. If they get a first game is over no different than punting

You also throw in the chance of actually getting the first by going for it. It was a horrendous decision to punt. Punting took away any chance of FSU making the first obviously, and it didn’t help them at all.

LOL. Or you punt and see if Clemson fields it cleanly. Or see if Clemson can run three clean plays after the punt. All while on a wet field, and in a season where they’ve been a completely inept offense.

You’re also being disingenuous about where they would start the possession in each scenario. The FSU player made a bad judgement on the punt and could have easily fielded it at around the 25, but instead let it bounce and roll.

But you act like going for it on 4th and 30 from their own 17 would have been the right call.
