I actually did my own research on just their offense and this is what I came up with: Elijah Surratt, WR, age: 22 (4-year player) E.J. Williams Jr., WR, age: 24 (6-year player) Omar Cooper Jr., WR, age: 22 (4-year player) Carter Smith, LT, age: 21 (4-year player) Drew Evans, LG, age: 22 (4-year player) Pat Coogan, C, age: 23 (5-year player) Bray Lynch, RG, age: 21 (4-year player) Ajani Adedamola, LG, age: 20 (2-year player) Riley Nowakowski, TE, age: 24 (6-year player) Fernando Mendoza, QB, age: 22 (4-year player) Roman Hemby, RB, age: 23 (5-year player) Average Age: 22.18 (4.4-year player)

It's skewed because of their punter.

21-22 isn't really an outlier. Saban was able to keep kids to be JRs and seniors because of the conveyor belt of talent development. Not really a secret that SRs are better then FR. Especially when you get the right ones. Look at the IU bench after every drive the entire team is engaged and studying.

DJ lagway would just sit there emo after his drives for example. IUs difference is they get kids that actually care in addition to being older

In CFB you either have to be more talented then everyone or develop kids into SRs. Not really a new thing. Better then the schools spending 30 mil on a roster imo

I’m ready for the inevitable post during the NFL playoffs this weekend about these teams being younger than Indiana. Somebody will do it
That is better than someone saying that Indiana could beat the Raiders or some shite like that.

Everyone knows a team 23 and 3 months old on average has a massive advantage on a team 22 and 4 months old.

Just MASSIVE

I didn't include the punter in my research. And I actually got it wrong. Ajani Adedamola, aged 20, doesn't start at Right Tackle. Kahlil Benson, aged 23, and a six-year player, does.

So when you include him the average age of their starting offense increases from 22.18 (4.4 years of experience) to 22.5 (4.7 years of experience).

It’s not at all surprising that you’re arguing against a factual premise.

People are saying Indiana has the oldest roster in college football. You’re arguing by proving their point in every post.

Nothing about other schools being almost as old changes that fact.

It’s also incredibly disingenuous to try and argue how “close” other schools are when Indiana is like 2-3 standard deviations older than the mean.

Why are you only focused on the playoff teams? If all 4 playoff teams are very old, then it’s obvious that’s a major advantage. Most teams can’t build old teams.

I’m not hating on Indiana or anyone that does it. I hate the rules, I hate it’s allowed. But you should bend the rules to your advantage to win, no doubt.

I’ve yet to hear a good explanation of why we have so many 6-7 year players on college. The main reason I hear is “Covid Year” so does that mean we will start to see less and less of these older players?

We should, if the NCAA had any balls and enforced the eligibility rules.

Yall are so disengenuos. People are trying to use Indiana and their age as to why they are dominating

Well the fact is the team they just shelled and the team they are also about to play on the championshop are almost the same age

If you want to make the point the top teams are older on average that makes sense. But it holds zero bearing on how Indiana has separated from the other elite teams as they don’t hold an age advantage there
