Actually, it’s THE story.

Cig has talked about it multiple times. It’s incredibly intentional. And it worked.

Only for a complete idiot. How is it a story Indiana is 23 when the other semi final teams are 22 on average?

With context Indiana’s age is nothing. It’s right in line with the other top teams. If you want a story compare the average age of all top 10 teams ba the average age of unranked teams . That is where you will likely see a material difference potentially. But Indiana is not an outlier when compared to the other top teams right now

They are almost 24. 23.8.

Cig said it himself he intentionally built a team that was old and experienced. He valued age and playing time over “talent”.

He says it’s a story. I’m not arguing with you for 20 pages over something that is just smart team building.

Yes, it’s a paradigm shift due to NIL

The only kids that will get paid to develop are DL. Everyone else will get their experience elsewhere.

It is true that the SEC’s dominance in recruiting has worked against them. You can’t pay potential anymore.

Bro, Iin the 90s Nebraska was OLD AS frick

Y’all invented the grey shirt method and had a ton of guys over normal college age. And yall were far far more of an outlier than any team today with that

I actually did my own research on just their offense and this is what I came up with:

Elijah Surratt, WR, age: 22 (4-year player)
E.J. Williams Jr., WR, age: 24 (6-year player)
Omar Cooper Jr., WR, age: 22 (4-year player)
Carter Smith, LT, age: 21 (4-year player)
Drew Evans, LG, age: 22 (4-year player)
Pat Coogan, C, age: 23 (5-year player)
Bray Lynch, RG, age: 21 (4-year player)
Ajani Adedamola, LG, age: 20 (2-year player)
Riley Nowakowski, TE, age: 24 (6-year player)
Fernando Mendoza, QB, age: 22 (4-year player)
Roman Hemby, RB, age: 23 (5-year player)

Average Age: 22.18 (4.4-year player)

And they made it into the semi-finals. Miami's average age is just a hair over 22. Oregon's age is similar to Miami's.

Sound strategy if you ask me. Get a bunch of 6th year seniors on your OL and go to work.

It’s not just about raw size, it’s about physical maturity and skill advancement. You’re getting guys who should be in their second, third, or even 4th year as a pro playing teams full of guys who can’t even legally buy a beer yet.

We give Pavia and Chambliss shite about wanting to be the exception when they would be the rule for Indiana. It’s a farce.

Why are yall ignoring facts

The average starting age for Indiana and ole Miss is almost the same

Same with Oregon

Same with Miami

All 4 semi final teams were the same from an age standpoint . People are just trying to rationalize why Indiana is good

It looks like Kiffin put the Old in Old Miss.

IF every team were refreshed at a normal rate, and allow for the Freshmen class to be larger slightly, wouldn't each class have 25% of the total? that could imply that the average age of a team would be 20.5 years. Unless a bunch of them didn't pass grades in Middle and High School.

An interesting thing I noticed about their depth chart is that it is almost completely void of any Juniors.

Of the 35 players that saw playing time of any significance, only 2 were juniors from the 2023 class. Both are DBs, one transferred from JMU.

There were seven sophomores. All were from Cignetti’s first class in 2024.

Here’s the primary source I used.

No it’s not.

Indiana has easily the oldest roster in college football this year. They are older than BYU. Let that sink in.

The main reason I hear is “Covid Year” so does that mean we will start to see less and less of these older players?

This is the last year of the COVID class.

2020 didn’t count
2021 red shirt
2022 freshman
2023 sophomore
2024 junior
2025 senior

Could have some stragglers that also have a medical redshirt but this is the last season of the red shirt seniors who actually received 2 red shirts (including the Covid season).

It has been shown to you here. They are only a few months older on average than miiami, ole miss, and Oregon. If you put your head in the sand to ignore the actual facts go ahead
