I'm not an ATL hater.I'm able to differentiate between a football team and the city it plays in. I have several friends from home who now live in Atlanta after college, and I have several friends from Atlanta who live in New Orleans now. For most people, it's a non issue

Well, then.

I like Atlanta. I've visited many times, and always enjoy.

I prefer my area though. Great beaches trump anything Atlanta has to offer.

Great beaches trump any large city. Tampa doesn't have beaches anyway.

FWIW, I'm a mountain person.

I'm not on the "atlanta sucks" train but do you know how much of a douche you sound when you say this and prove peoples points about atlanta?

Worst major cities in the South: 3. Montgomery 2. Atlanta 1. Birmingham

Um, no. Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport, Memphis, Jackson, Houston, Little Rock, Tampa, on and on are worse than Atlanta my friend.

Consider the source. Notice how cities in areas dominated by LSU fans and Saints fans biggest rivals are conveniently the worst cities ever.

You can eat, drink, and gamble in New Orleans which you can do in a lot of other places as well. The New Orleans area is terrible for most other things. Worst access to public golf of any major city in America. Atlanta and Bham both blow New Orleans out of the water in that category and both cities (Atlanta and Bham) are much much prettier areas with nicer suburban neighborhoods than New Orleans. New Orleans does have the best downtown setup of any city in America though. All types of hunting are better in Alabama and Georgia than Lousiana though Louisiana does have excellent fishing. Alabama and especially Georgia have pretty mountains and much better hiking/camping than Lousiana as well.

New Orleans > Atlanta > Birmingham

for a weekend of eating and drinking? yes

New Orleans > Atlanta > Birmingham

as an overall place to live? not by a long shot.

I'm not trying to sound like a douche. I don't even live in Atlanta. I avoid it when I can. But I'm going to take up for it when someone bashes it for no reason.

NOLA is a better venue for Sporting events than Atlanta.
Not being biased have been to most of the great sporting cities in the US, with the exception of L.A. and Detroit.
Superdome > GA Dome
NOLA > Atlanta - but not NOLA is a better city which it isn't in terms of wealth and infrastructure but just a better venue. Go down to Atlanta around one of the major games and then go down to NOLA around one of the major games the atmosphere and buzz is just different. Also I might add why is that Atlanta does not have a major bowl?

Why do you think a new dome is being built? It was built in the 90s for the Olympics I believe. Now the city wants a BCS bid.

And the CFA bowl is the largest revenue generating Non-BCS bowl out there. LSU was in it last season, remember?

The nicer beaches (Pinellas West) are a 20-40 minute drive from Tampa, but yes, of course Tampa has beaches.

I agree with you about NOLA > Atlanta as a host city but disagree on the venues themselves. The Georgia Dome is a much nicer facility than the Super Dome imho.

Yes and no. While the GA Dome is newer and Blank's refurbishment in 2007-08 improved the look, the Superdome's recent renovation really made it more of a 21st century stadium.

You were half-right, I am being objective there is no question the golf is better in the Atlanta area and yes the suburban areas are overall nicer but New Orleans architecture and history I think more than make up for that. Also since the Superdome was improved I have been in both since and the Dome is atleast on par, but the atmosphere and environment make it better.

St. Pete Beach doesn't count.

Everytime I visit Tampa, we have to drive to either clearwater or st. pete just to go to the beach.

When the new dome is built, those who argue for the Superdome can no longer do so. You guys have a couple years, so live it up.

NOLA may be better in all aspects like you listed (it's not though), but that has nothing to do with the OP. Atlanta is not the worst final four location. By far. It has a huge airport which will help fans from across the nation. It has great areas to stay and a great metro system to get people to the some. I've been to both NOLA and Atlanta more than ten times each on many different occasions. The two are different, but both are very good spots to hold major sporting events.

The need for NOLA advocates to complain about any major event that is NOT in NOLA that year is ridiculous. News flash, not every major sporting event can be held in New Orleans every year.

And the need for them to compare NOLA to Atlanta any chance that presents itself is just as ridiculous. Other cities exist outside of Louisiana and Texas.

And to OP, if you really think homeless people or bums are worse in ATL than New Orleans, you are mistaken. The amount of times I get hit up for money in New Orleans is 10 fold compared to ATL.
