Meh, I wouldn’t be laughing too hard. The Mets are bigger threats to the Braves long-term than they were a week ago. They did a decent job of salvaging a shitty situation. Granted, that they created.

A guy with a 43% strikeout rate in low A is more than underachieving. He probably has more pop but certainly not a better hit tool. He will have to make significant changes to even get to the upper minors.
If Tavarez hadn’t been a bonus baby he’s probably not even a known name, much less a prospect.
I haven’t seen any outlet that has updated their rankings mid season have these two guys even in the same tier.

We shall see.
Regardless, I don’t think either should be guys that we take off the trade table.

I have no dog in that fight but that’s just funny.

Less than an hour to go.... still hoping for that last minute Starter.....

Maybe we can get Rodriguez for cheap considering Detroit has made their intentions known and basically has 45 minutes to trade him now

If all the Braves end up with is Brad Hand at the deadline it will feel like someone did their Christmas shopping for your presents at CVS.

It would certainly be disappointing, but we’re already the best team in baseball with a bunch of guys still coming back. Part of wanting to make some moves was to keep pace with other playoff teams that were expected to make moves and get better. Did anybody really except maybe the Astros?
Of course, there’s still 23 minutes left. I’m sure every GM in baseball is on the phone with multiple others frantically trying to hammer out something last minute.

Expectation is that the Cardinals will still trade Jack Flaherty, perhaps in conjunction with an OF such as Dylan Carlson or Tyler O'Neill. The Dodgers still want to add a SP. Perhaps the Braves too.

I get it, but it is very underwhelming. I really wanted to see Hader in a Braves uniform. It is like asking for a bike for Christmas and getting socks instead.

So say the Braves get Flaherty. How will that play with the team and the fans? I’d assume both will roll with it with some grumbling. Winning solves a lot of hard feelings.
I’d love to see O’Neil in a Braves uniform.

Marlins low key had a great deadline. Shored up closer and got another bat in Berger. Their rotation is really good. Would be more worried if we hadn't owned their arse so much this year.
I would be fine without another move I think. Would like another bullpen arm, but I like what I've seen from Johnson and Hand will help a lot with lefties plus has big game experience. 4th starter in postseason is worrisome, but hopefully Wright will be back in form.
Would have given up Vaughn for a nonrental upgrade to the pen or 4th starter, but having him on the roster in post season may end up being more valuable, who knows.
Just about trending the right way and staying healthy until the playoffs.

I don’t like competing with the Dodgers for the last starting pitcher on the market. Both will drive up the price for the other and they have a better farm. At this point, I’d rather they get him. Maybe we get ERod if he wants to be on the East Coast and since he’s a rental it may not cost much.
I was all in for a SP when I thought Fried wouldn’t be back till mid-late August and we needed somebody to help eat innings through August and September. I don’t think a SP helps us win the World Series unless it’s a top of the rotation guy who could be our #3 in the playoffs. But I’m fine riding with Fried/Strider/Elder/Morton in the playoffs.

Let’s be honest, Morton is 10-9. He hasn’t looked very good lately. Not bashing him, but he needs some time off or something.

We will all love him if he pitches well, and we will hate him if he doesn’t.
