I had to drive around town all day yesterday so I had 680 the fan on in Atlanta.

They were talking about the Braves Trade Deadline.

It kind of sounded like the Braves were trying to move Michael Harris, Spencer Strider, 2 minor leave studs (I don’t remember their names) and some draft picks to the Angels.

Of course it was all opinion. But those guys on that station have very inside information considering their studio in at the Braves stadium.

Has anyone else heard any rumors about this?

First of all, that’s absolutely ridiculous.

Secondly, you’re not likely to hear any legitimate rumors concerning AA’s trade deadline movements.

I thought it was absurd too but it was all about their contracts and how this would be the year to get their bad contracts off the books.

That’s one part of sports I don’t follow - salaries and contracts so that’s why I asked the question

lmao

Braves need to lottery protect their first rounders in any Ohtani deal IMO

Anyone who comes out and says the Braves are considering trading either of these guys needs to be immediately dismissed. This is not going to happen.

Harris and Strider are on GREAT contracts, and the Braves don't have any contracts bad enough to need to attach something to them to move them.

Iglesias probably has the worst contract on the roster right now, and he isn't going anywhere this season.

You were probably listening to Chris Dimino and Nick Celini, they're carpetbagger yankees.
And because 680's studio is in the Battery you think they have "very inside" info?

I’m just telling you what they were talking about - don’t kill the messenger and also Strider is my favorite Braves pitcher to watch - I’d hate to see him on another team

These guys sound like they really know their stuff so I’d say goodbye to that Strider jersey pal

So what 2 players they get from the Braves would the Padres keep on the roster to replace Soto and Hader in your opinion

Allard to the 60 IL and Forest Wall just called up.
Makes me thing Rosario is hurting, but won’t go on the IL.

Considering their ages and contracts, I wouldn’t trade those 2 for Ohtani straight up. Even if money were no object, I’m not sure we’d be better long-term with Ohtani or her those 2. But it definitely would make us worse in the short term. It not Lu doesn’t address our biggest weakness of needing 2 bullpen arms, it creates a huge hole in CF.

I can’t believe I’ve wasted this many words addressing this nonsense.

Who? Man, this sucks. We need all our assets to go get 2 high-leverage bullpen arms, but we might have to wind up getting a back of the rotation guy just to eat innings until Fried gets back.

Right. Both of those contracts are great considering their ages.

I think what the real topic was - what would it take to trade for Ohtani?

The Braves would have to offer Strider, Harris and a prospect or 2 probably.

And that's not a trade AA would ever make. Cause we're not signing anyone to a $40mill _+ per year contract.

Fried pitches in Gwinnett on Thursday. I expect him back after that.
Wall is an outfielder. Think pinch runner and defense.
