Dansby is hella more dependable than both Harris and Olson.

Isn’t a concern at imo. When Ozzie comes back he’ll catch fire.

Ozuna on the other hand has not been very good. Same for Duvall. Definitely wouldn’t mind replacing one of them and maybe adding another starter/bp arm before the deadline.

Well first of all, he's out for the season. Second of all, he was one of our best hitters this month.

Not including Swanson?

He's having a career year and a top 3 SS in MLB

Braves are currently 3rd in the MLB in runs and slugging and that's with Ozuna
and Acuna shitting the bed and Albies on the IRL

Do the Dodgers?

Clutch hitting and the bullpen gets you deep in to the playoffs and the Braves
proved it last year (It's a given that SP is solid with almost all playoff teams)

Left off Dansby but I’ll admit it just seems like he’s come back down to human level right now. I have no recent stats to back that up.
And I’m clearly talking about right now. Not getting much from anyone other than those 3-4 guys the last couple of weeks. But I’m gladly to be proven wrong if the numbers back it up.

Wait since when??

Missed that one I guess. Yeah he hit alright this month but this season has been pretty rough going for the Braves in the OF. Harris has been a nice change.

Saw someone mention kike Hernandez as a possible trade pick up. Would be an amazing get. He's on the IL now so might be cheaper than normal.

Could solve our outfield and 2nd base problem. Plus is a clutch playoff guy.

As long as he's healthy, I'd be all for this. Would be a great move.

Probably the fact that you can tell they love playing together, and Ronnie seems to always be in a better mood and having fun when Ozzie’s around. And I assume the theory is that if Ronnie’s having fun, he’ll flip a switch and turn into the “real” Ronnie. There’s probably some truth to that, but I don’t know how much. And if there’s a lot of truth to it, I don’t know how much I like it. Well, actually, I don’t like it all. He’s a fricking professional—he can’t just play well when his BFF is out there with him. Cause he won’t always be.

But I think there’s a ton of other mental stuff going on with him too. He’s lost his swag. He went from being maybe the best player in baseball last year (besides Ohtani) and likely winning the MVP, to destroying his knee and watching his team win the World Series without him. And instead of him winning NLCS or WS MVP and getting all the glory, he had to watch Eddie Rosario and Jorge Soler—2 OFs who hadn’t even been on the team for 3 months—win them, respectively. And he had to watch some white, Californian surfer douche—who had also just joined the team—become the “fun,” that the team and media seemed to rally around.

And now, Austin Riley has clearly established himself as the team’s current best player and an MVP candidate himself, and Dansby is having a monster season in his money year that’s about to get him paid. Speaking of, and I think this is a real thing that was—or is—inevitably going to become one if it hasn’t already, Ronnie’s about to be the 4th or 5th highest paid position player on the Braves.

And when Soto is turning down $440 over 15 years, Mookie Betts, and Machado and Tatis all have $300+ guaranteed contracts and Ronnie, when right, is better than all of them yet getting paid nickels on the dollar AND now has 1st-hand experience with how quickly an injury can happen and derail your career? I think all of that is in there somewhere, and as a relatively immature 24-year-old kid, he’s having a hard time battling through both the physical and psychological adversity he’s going/had to go through. And it’s preventing him from simply being himself, having fun, and just playing like who he is.

Maybe it’s something physical so small that we can’t see and when he figures it out, he’ll get his swag back and turn it on. Maybe it’s all mental, and he just needs to run into a couple to get his mojo back. Or maybe he really just misses his BFF. But the money thing is gonna be a thing soon, if it’s not already. Imo, of course.

He’s having a terrible season, hasn’t played since June 7th with a hip flexor strain, and was placed on the 60 day IL July 23rd. I’m assuming that’s retroactive to June 8th, so he could theoretically come off around the 8th of August, but I just read an article that says it’ll be another week before he’s even swinging a bat. Seems like Ozzie may be back not too much later than it would take KiKe to get right, if that’s even possible this year. I’d take him for the right price (basically just paying the rest of his salary or a very low ceiling prospect if they wanna keep paying him), but just not sure it really addresses our short-term needs. But, the Sox do have a few nice pieces in the last year of their contracts that may be available. I’ll link the article.

MLB Trade Rumors—Red Sox

Btw, I know people are down on Cano a bit, but I think he’s still got juice in his bat—he’s hitting some hard balls into some bad luck—and wouldn’t bail on him being a bridge to Ozzie coming back just yet. Not unless it’s for a younger guy like a healthy KiKe from last year who can give you versatility by being able to play multiple IF and OF positions and can continue to give you value even after Ozzie gets back.

shite, I’m talking myself into wanting him now, but it’s got a lot to do with how good he was last year and how good he’s been in the postseason, but with his current injury and it being a rental, I just wouldn’t want to give up any real asset to get him. HOWEVER, is it time to face the possibility that Ozzie may not make it back this year, and even if he does, he won’t be the same until ‘23? Cause I think that possibility is higher than zero. Maybe significantly so.
