Ian Anderson couldn't be trusted a third time through. Right call imo

One of the best, if not the best game I’ve ever been to. So much fun!! LFG boys!!!

Analytics kill me. I just don't trust them as much as I trust the feel of the game and the players playing it. I get it analytics don't work if you don't buy all the way in.
Shifting the D with a runner on and less than two outs is stupid and continues to be proven wrong.

I really hope our bullpen can maintain tomorrow. And we can’t leave so many stranded in scoring position. Going up 3-1 with one more game in Atlanta would be huge. I really don’t want this Series to go back to Houston

Meh. He may could have gone another, but it wasn’t definitely 2 innings too early. The game has changed. In a tied 0-0, then 1-0 World Series game that you HAD to win, almost all his pitches were high leverage. 75 pitches tonight is not the same as it was in 1996. I mean he’s always an infield hit and a bomb away from throwing a no-hitter to being down 2-1.
That said, I probably would have let him go out for the 6th. 3 outs you don’t put on the pen is huge. But the real frick up—even though it worked—was not letting Matzek go back out in the 9th. Dude has huge balls and isn’t afraid to shove 99 right up their asses on any count. And he wants the pill. That dude wasn’t giving up 2 runs in the 9th. Will Smith tops out at 93//94, but wants to rely on that low 80s slider too much. And you can tell he’s nervous and not sure if he can close it out. Matzek knew he was gonna go out, throw 99, dare them to hit it, then say “frick you, grab some bench” when they can’t.
Just because we paid Smith way too much money and “the book” says to bring your “closer” in in the 9th in every save situation simply because he’s been arbitrarily anointed your closer, doesn’t mean you have to do it every time.
Whatever, we won. That big fricking bomb by d’Arnaud was sooooooo clutch. In tonight’s game, a 2-0 lead was exponentially more important than just adding a run to the lead. It had to be deflating. And it gave Smith a little leash to breathe. Not sure it would have gone the same if Snit runs him out there in the 9th only up 1-0.
But everything worked out and we won, despite some questionable decisions at the time. It was just so plainly obvious that we HAD to win this game after what Ian and the pen did. No way we get those performances from those pitchers, lose at home, and have to win 1 of 2 pen games just to make it back to Game 6. Tonight was a must-win, and we made it happen.
But I can’t get over Rosario’s weak, pussy effort on their “hit.” I just saw a replay and it pissed me off even more. frick the no-hitter, you’re up 1-0 in the 8th in a critical game 3 and that’s the effort you come up with? He could have turned on the Jets and caught it standing up. Even if he had to dive and missed it, it was so high, it wasn’t getting by him. And Dansby was there to prevent the double. Lay the motherfrick out. And communication should never factor in. There’s a hierarchy on balls like that, and the outfielders coming in have priority over any and all midfielders. If he thought he could get to it, then go fricking get. It’s the goddamn World Series. frick!

Just WOW. This WS is taking on the feel of the 69 series between the Mets and Orioles, with the Braves being the Mets. People down here in the Tropics, both American expats and Ticos (Costa Ricans) just going wild. Damn I love it.

Can I ask that we win tomorrow so that I get to see us win on Sunday for the series? Could possibly be arrested for banging my wife in the stands.

I think he was concerned about running into Dansby. I'd rather see that ball fall in than have Eddie and Dansby collide and both get injured.

Yeah a collision would have possibly ended everything for us.
I will allow it.

I’m not questioning snit at all there. Old days he woulda been excoriated for pulling a guy throwing a no no.
If we can score enough runs. Ans if we can get a starter or combo of pitchers to get us through the 5th. We look deadly coming out the pen after that. This combo of minter. Luke. Tyler nutsack and smith is a deadly combo.
