Luke Jackson signs with the Giants.

Not saying we should hire him back because of the baggage, but Coppy played a huge role in building the foundation for this window.
He was the one who triggered the reset after the Upton Here, Upton Here outfield didn't work.
I agree w/you, but I don't think anyone is gonna touch Coppy right now. He's toxic.

Someone will definitely hire him and they will get a good FO guy for cheap out of it.
Again, some crazy new information must've come out to go from lifetime ban to immediately off of that list after 5 years.

So of White, Hilliard and Luplow, who has the best shot of making the opening day roster? AND WHERE IS ADAM DUVALL???
Posted on 1/11/23 at 11:11 am to LSUJockStrap
Luplow is the only one that has shown he can somewhat step into a MLB batters box and not look like a total loser, so if it's of those three, I'd say him.
But I think there is just a good of a chance that we option/DFA all of them and make another signing/trade towards the end of spring training.

I think Duvall wants to get paid as much as possible and will only re-sign with us as a last resort. That, or his wrist could still be fricked up.

He’s be smart to maximize whatever he can get, even if it lands him on a losing roster.

I hope this is the case

Luplow will be on the opening day roster and may be in the lineup depending on the pitching matchups.
White has options left so I'm assuming he plays most of the season in Gwinnett and would be the first guy up if one of the corner outfielders has to sit out a few days.
Hilliard is out of options so I think he's a lottery ticket.

Max Fried is the Braves' only unsigned arb eligible. Looks like he'll have his salary determined by a hearing for a second straight year.

He gone, enjoy him until he hits FA

Yup, and if that happens after the 2024 season, we'll have let a MVP-caliber player, a gold glove-caliber SS who said he would've taken less to stay and a Cy Young-caliber lefty walk in a 4 year stretch of what is our contender window.
That'll be hard to reconcile if 2021 ends up being the only World Series we win with this group.

So far the one consistent top end starter to come out of your rebuild, you let walk
mindblowing

to be fair, we haven't let him walk yet.
But you'd think if there was ever a time to cash in on all of our "financial flexibility" over the years, it would be on an extension for a stud lefty pitcher who is still in his 20's.
I guess you can argue that we used some of the flexibility to extend our really young guys, but in reality, the deals we're giving them will be bargains once we get through what would've been their arb years so that's all moot anyway.
One way to piss off a fanbase is saying we're saving money for bigger moves down the road only to really be saving money so that the ownership group can line their pockets.

You guys act like the player doesn’t have a say. If Fried wanted to sign an extension by now he would have. Same for Freddie and Dansby. Why is it always the teams fault when a player takes a risk on himself? It’s a two way street. If Fried blows out his elbow or tears his rotator or slips in the shower and becomes paralyzed I figure one day he would regret not signing earlier. And if Acuna blows out his knee In Spring training and is done I guess the Braves would look back and wish they hadn’t offered that extension.
It’s always a two way street and I don’t blame or applaud either side. It’s all just a business decision. What I don’t like is either side not honoring their side of the deal. For instance, if Riley or Acuna showed up 50 pounds overweight or simply stopped trying because they want the team to renegotiate since the world is telling them they are under paid I would be upset. And unfortunately this is what we see from players a lot. We never see teams refuse to pay a player yet we see players sign deals and then not long after use the media and their skills to try and force teams to a redo. If teams could not pay a player the Braves certainly wouldn’t be paying Ozuna and I sure don’t see Ozuna offering to let them free from the contract.
Fried will be traded before he becomes a free agent as the Braves won’t lose out on assets like they did with Freeman.

I have no reason to believe that the Braves have put a serious offer on the table.
ETA: And that's not a slight at the Braves, there is no reason to get into serious negotiations yet, that needs to happen next offseason if it is going to happen. As for potentially trading Fried, that only happens if we are out of the playoff race before the deadline in 2024 (which shouldn't happen), because the optics would look absolutely terrible if we traded him away in the middle of an NL East race because we can't afford him after the season.

I call it the Julio Jones syndrome and I couldn't agree with you more. Julio got his big payday and immediately quit trying.
