It is no where as severe as in other sports losing 1st and 2nd round picks. Losing back to back years was a good call by the commissioner to try and make it hurt some.

I know you are somewhat joking but there has always been a large portion of the media that hated how the Astros did things steaming from not investing in majors.
They are now painting it as a “win at all costs” toxic culture as if winning isn’t the only goal in baseball
