If Tulane gave their tickets away for free, their attendance numbers wouldnt change.

The few that actually go are the only ones that care.

Tulane and UNO have always been a tie when it comes to students ignoring sports. At Tulane & UNO baseball and basketball games there are never more than about 200 students ever.

Yeah if we played away at Ruston they would have a fan base that would show up and it would be a chippy atmosphere.

And where is LSU playing its season opener in 2022?

What is ESPN paying us? How much will ESPN pay us to play Tulane in New Orleans?

Again, why is Tulane entitled to something that other, better, programs in the state don’t get? Because you’re located in New Orleans? Really?

Play a game in Ruston? Do you have any idea how much money LSU would lose by 1) giving up a game in B.R. and 2) how much guarantee money Tech would be able to pay LSU with its much smaller stadium ? In today's world, no way LSU gives up the millions it would lose by playing Tech or any state school on the road. Never gonna happen, money talks wayyy too much in today's world. As for tulane, as noted, they have not sold their allotment of tickets to a game in Tiger Stadium for decades.Screw 'em.

LSU received 40K tickets for the 2007 game in the Superdome and was able to keep all of the revenue. It's not as though LSU would lose money playing Tulane in New Orleans. Plus, it's good for the state and Nola.

They absolutely lost money compared to what a random rent a win in Tiger Stadium generates

As you mentioned, we don’t need Tulane to play games in New Orleans.

I have no idea how is playing at Tulane is good for the state. It’s frustrating though because it’s a game we’d like to see happen, the only reason it doesn’t is because of Tulane’s attitude of entitlement

40K tickets vs 90K+. Do the simple math. LSU would lose 50K . Add to that the difference in ticket costs. There is no way tulane charges as much per ticket as LSU does. Add in the loss of revenue from concessions, parking, etc. It's a no brainer. As for being good for N.O. most LSU fans & fans across the state could care less about that city the Democrats have destroyed. And when is the last time tulane did anything good for LSU & Baton Rouge?

That’s why I said in Shreveport……
It would replace say our neutral site season opener. Then we would play our P5 OOC at home week 2 instead.

Then we just play at home the next season when we play the P5 OOC away.

LSU and Tulane haven’t played each other in football in over a decade. This is a strange time to be melting about this

meh Oklahoma almost did… I would never say never

But I do wonder what another LA team would have to do for LSU to play a road game at them

We just did a 2-1 with Rice (the game in Houston was canceled Covid), playing Florida State in the Super Dome.
If LSU plays an instate school outside of Tiger Stadium, it would likely be in the Super Dome this year.

If the SEC goes to 9 conference games, the likelihood of LSU playing a non P5 team on the road in close to zero.

LSU will probably have 40K or so fans patronizing the city the Democrats destroyed on Labor Day weekend. That's good for Nola and the state.

I personally would like to see a 2 for 1 arrangement with LSU.

Im a Tulane fan. Texas has done a home and home...i believe Oklahoma has or will. Ole miss... miss st has as well.

Lsu was getting a good deal playing at Tulane and the fans (LSU) enjoyed going new Orleans for the game.

People in high positions in Tulane athletics has no real interest in playing LSU because of the lack of home and home.

Agree about Tulane, but why the UNO comparison? UNO is largely a City commuter school with very few students living on near/campus. Tulane requires students to live on campus their first 2 years and I would guess 80%-90% of Tulane undergrads live on/within walking distance of campus. Reflects much worse on Tulane than UNO students.

Agree. Though if Tulane would up their stadium capacity to 35K plus they would probably draw alot more interest from home and home from bigger schools.

But those economics don't make sense you can only fill 80% of more of those seats for 1 game every 2 or 3 seasons.

I’m obviously also a Tulane fan, but I disagree. LSU fans can go visit shithole New Orleans whenever. The last time LSU played us most of them packed a bag lunch, watched the tigers kick the shite out of Tulane, and were home by dinner to watch prime time games

From a Tulane standpoint I understand we need those big games to keep us afloat, but getting skullfricked by 40 points ultimately doesn’t help the Tulane football program. It’s not a rivalry anymore and both schools don’t stand to gain anything from renewing the series. IMO
