They are simply re-ranked with the updated data.

If that's "re-ranking" Oregon and Michigan, then AP voters must think LSU sucks, because they didn't r really re-rank USC in comparison to the Ducks and Defending champs who basically got a pass in the first real Poll after awful performances..

You aren't limited to how much you can drop ("re-rank") a team (see FSU), see Michigan-Appy State who got bounced from Preseason #4 to unranked in 2007.

So you aren't educating anyone, you're just talking out your arse then?

How ever you want to spin it, the fact remains--USC picked up over 600 points in the poll, while LSU lost about 400 points.

I don’t think there are 17 teams better than LSU,

Whether you think it or not is irrelevant--based on the votes of 62 people, 17 teams are currently seen as better than LSU.

But as someone else said, polls don't really matter at this point, and they shouldn't even release them until later in the season. It's all for talking right now.

I don't really care where LSU is right now--it doesn't matter. My "wtf", as someone questioned, was directed at the clear overreaction to a 7 point win. It's not like USC won by 21, or ever looked like they would win that game by that much. It was close until the end. But I guarantee you some west coast voters have USC in the Top 10 right now. And maybe they are a Top 10 team, but I don't think that game proves anything about either team and where they will be.

Florida State, on the other hand...

What a fall.

It obviously is a big drop, but that's based on two losses, not one. They didn't re-rank after week 0.

Not really what I was referring to.

What I meant was: they suck...

Interesting that GT is ranked with a win over Georgia State and a walk off against FSU, but BC who took mercy knees in Tallahassee isn’t ranked.

I agree, Boston college should be ranked!

Looking at the Coaches Poll, it has to be Major Applewhite who voted Texas #1.

You do realize that Ga Tech beating FSU caused FSU’s SOS to decline which hurt Boston College? Are you too dumb to see that’s what happened after GA Tech beat the 10th ranked team in the country?

No one needs to be upset about any of this. Outside of FSU who has 2 conferences losses already, no other losses matter because those games were scrimmages. All that matters in the playoff era are conference games and playoff games. This isn’t the old days where a loss in September ends your season. Clemson lost nothing and UGA gained nothing by that beat down. Sure, bragging rights were won but that and a dollar nets you a dollar. By December no one will care about that game because either they’ll be in the playoff or they won’t based on conference games.

One of the most mind numbingly dumb thing I have ever read

BCs win over FSU should be treated as more impressive than GTs

Based on flawed rankings. Rankings should always been done based on the current ranking of the opponents.

How does one make current rankings based on current rankings?

Where’s Boston College? Why Tech and not Boston College? Boston College whipped them more

BC also did it at FSU's home stadium.

Right now UGA, OSU, Texas and Bama are in a class of their own.

Missouri is overrated. USC is underrated...should be top ten.

BC also had film from an actual game. They used GT’s blueprint to perfection. And FSU played far worse at home than in Ireland, They actually showed some grit in Ireland whereas at home they laid down by the 2nd quarter. But, again, none of it matters because GT and BC and every other team outside FSU controls their own conference destiny at this point.
