Orchestrated by Dick Ebersol’s son. Has quite a crew backing them. Bunch of ex-players, Peter Thiel, Chernin Group.

This clearly has the NFL's hands all over it. Designed to do 2 things:
1.) Block the XFL, which they don't control.
2.) Create a farm system for the NFL.

Agree. The no kickoffs and two point conversion is the NFL experimenting. The teams will probably be in the NE, and play in NFL stadiums. The XFL will probably target smaller market areas.

I can almost see in a Magic Make Believe world that both of these leagues are successful and at 15 to 20 years down the road they merge.

This sparks my curiosity. They’ll have 8 teams, and cities will be announced next month. Wonder what 8 cities will get a franchise?
