With both 'lesser' super-star teams eliminated, I am here to remind the board that Dirk cemented himself as as the greatest player of the 'Superteam' era back in 2011 with his championship run.

He led the most impressive championship win in perhaps NBA history once rosters and variables (injuries, postseason matchups, etc) are taken into account and it's really not close.

One primary 'Superstar'

One All-Star that season (Dirk)

Caron Butler, the team's 'No.2 guy', went down with an ACL in January

**Postseason**

-Went through a 48-win Blazers team with a prime Brandon Roy, Batum, Aldridge, etc...

-Handed Phil Jackson his only ever sweep of his head coaching career and ended the Kobe/Pau/Bynum dynasty talk

-Dismantled an OKC team with three future MVP winners on the roster in 5 games

-Toppled LeChina, D-Wade, Bosh and company in six games, despite Dirk being sick for game 5-6.

As we all recall, Dirk and D-Wade openly mocked Dirk's excuse.

"I thought it was childish and ignorant,'' Dirk said calmly."

Youtube: For those looking to re-live or perhaps refresh their memory on Dirk's performance during this run

That 2011 run made all the years of pain worth it. Capping it off against the Heat in the finals was icing on the cake. The Mavs had a rediculous road to that championship

Dirk rainbow 3 Heat

This is still one of the wettest shots I’ve ever seen

We were all Mavs for the 2011 finals.

We were all witnesses.

I was on a cruise out of Miami for the end of that series. Probably the only one openly rooting for them on the boat. A lot of upset bros were looking for a fight.

It is, but the totality is the Mavs run is incredible. That team was on an alltime heater.

Can’t you say the same thing about last year’s Raptors team? Their two best players outside of Kawhi were Kyle Lowry and first year starter Pascal Siakam.

That was a glorious run. It was so fun to be here in Dallas during that playoff run. I went to one game each series of the playoffs & the AAC was on fire. Dirk sealed Legend status that year. I think it is great that the most beloved Dallas sports figure ever is not a Cowboy.

I'll always think that Mavs team was underrated and will never get the credit it deserves b/c Cuban broke the team up in the pursuit of FAs and everyone wants to clown the Heatles and LeBron but Brandon Roy was not in his prime in 2011.

Dirk is an incredibly humble person. Always wondered what it looked like in the locker room after he ran off the court. Nobody in the leage deserved a ring more than Dirk at that time especially after having been robbed years before. NBA used to be great huh?
