I watched the NHL draft lottery last week. They air the ping pong ball machine.

Is there any reason at all the NBA can't do this?

@BrandonRahbar

There’s 1 team you can’t blame for the Mavs landing Cooper Flagg.

Back in 2017 when the new lottery reform went to a vote, 28 teams voted for the new flattened odds.

Ironically, the Dallas Mavs abstained from voting.

The OKC Thunder were the only team to vote against.

wonder what the statistics are that 4 times, a team under 3% wins the lottery since 1985. I bet you it’s pretty astronomical. Should be proof enough

It is 5 times, not 4; it isn't that astronomical; it is a tiny bit better than once in a hundred million tries.

A very unlikely event occurring does not mean the laws of probability have been evaded or manipulated. It simply means an unlikely sequence has come to pass.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist by nature, but the NBA consistently makes it really hard not to think something may be amiss

Saying this is the same thing as saying 'I am a conspiracy theorist by nature'.

There's no distinction to be made-- if you jump to a conspiracy as the most plausible explanation of the outcome, then yeah, you are a conspiracy theorist.

Harper is probably going to be the best player from this draft and he's going to the Spurs

My thoughts exactly. If the NBA was rigged, they wouldn’t give the Spurs another potential dynasty.

The whole thing is WWE.

WWE doesn't insult their audience the way the NBA does.

WWE is very open about being predetermined, sports entertainment .... the NBA keeps trying to pass themselves off as a legit sports competition

oh well, frick the NBA ... they know that most of their target audience has the IQ of a broken coffee table so they don't care.

So the teams with the highest odds just go along with the scam. Got it

You can't even count on the players being in the game when you go to the arena on a given night. League is cooked anyway.

It’s almost like they completely threw in the towel on rigging and went for broke. Some other blue chip franchises made out like bandits too,

Like I used to see about wrestling events when I was a little kid, "card is subject to change", this very much applies to NBA and superstar players taking games off.

Why the frick is a 39-43 team even in the lottery? It should be exclusively the bottom dwellers

Because they are a non-playoff team, and therefor a bottom dweller.

Fans can't be appeased; they complain if a 38 win team makes the playoffs, calling it a disgrace and a joke, and if that team is relegated to the lottery, fans also get pissed.

Adam Silver has overseen the absolute demise of the NBA. It’s an awful product and I can not wait to see the next round of broadcast rights negotiations
