Who was it a few years ago that took a puck right below the eye, got like 40 stitches and then came back and played until their eye completely swelled shut where they could no longer see?

Funny you mention the NBA. Steve Nash did this in a game as well.

Maybe it's a Canadian thing

Thug. Part of the reason why the NBA cracked down on the hard playoff fouls /fights.

We always joke about Canadian politeness. Get them in a sports environment though and all that aggression they've been suppressing seems to come out

Zach Werenski.

Came back in the 3rd period, but couldn't play overtime because he couldn't see due to his eye swelling up.

NBA players are tough. Sometimes they even cramp during the game.

Chara is a tough hombre. In the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals he had his jaw broken on a shot in Game 4. I believe he missed the next game, but returned to play the rest of the series.

Yeah Chara is a tough SOB.

But back to OP's point, this is nothing new in hockey. They, aside from race car drivers, are the toughest and most fearless guys in sports.

He did. He blocked a shot on a penalty kill, broke his leg, then proceeded to try and block another shot on the same shift. Tough as nails.

Already has happened. They’ve had female goaltenders in the preseason

Its always funny to see who played and didn’t play sports

I would much rather slice my face open during a match. I could stitch jt up and keep playing. I tore my ankle once up and beat Arkansas(lol pigs). Was out for months after though

But once cramps started happening? You are fubar.

ETA: nba players are still pussies though. But it always angers me how fat internet people don’t understand cramping
