They have this series starting off on on a Sunday/Monday.

This is despite previous series ending on Tuesday/Wednesday of last week. Two teams will have waited over a week and two teams will have waited just about a week to play

So we skip over Thursday/Friday/Saturday of last week to start this past Sunday.

We get basketball every night of from Sunday to Wednesday. .

Then, again we get a break from Wednesday till the games resume again on Saturday evening. First prime time game in awhile. And the only one we are sure of getting.

Then there’s a chance we get a game 5 next Thursday and a game 6 on Friday and Saturday next week.

tl;dr: There’s a big gap between Thursday/Friday/Saturday night games that we aren’t sure of getting

The 3 day lay off is pretty ridiculous.

Yes. The layoff from game 2 to 3 in the WCF is absurd

IIRC, the Finals are set in stone to begin Thursday, May 31st. They're trying to stretch out the conference finals to fill up that gap.

If you never watch NBA then nothing associated with NBA can annoy you.

If the NBA wanted to stretch it out, why didn't they have one game per day on weekdays with doubleheaders on weekends during the conference semis?

The finals dates were already set. The series ending so soon has fricked everything up.

This schedule sucks, but the criticism that the NBA would receive from destroying players in the unlikely event a team plays 4 7-game series is worth avoiding.

This is what happens when all the previous rounds series ended in 5 games or less

Because you can't reliably project the length of 1st and 2nd round playoff series.

It works until you have a sweep opposite a 7 game series on the same side of the bracket. Some years, the series end fast. Some years, they don't. They certainly aren't predictable, from a scheduling standpoint.

The only thing the league can really do, is plan a window for when the finals can start, at the earliest possible date, and plan around that. Finals scheduling has no excuse.

This. The finals schedule is set before the playoffs even begin. If you have a lot of long series in the early rounds, no big gaps. But last round, 2 short series equals have to sit around with thumb in arse for a while to kill time.

Everyone has always been annoyed by NBA playoff scheduling.

It's called the second season for a reason.

Because it's so fricking long.

These guys aren't taking fricking trains to different cities. Baseball players play everyday. Only football should you need a week's rest. NBA just likes to milk this shite for all its worth. The NBA season is longer than the MLB despite playing half the games.

Basketball is October to June...

Baseball is April to October.

Are you seriously comparing baseball to basketball?

Besides that retardedness, your dates are wrong (most likely done on purpose because you are not debating in good faith):

quote:

Basketball is October to June...

Baseball is April to October.

Basketball has generally been November to mid-June. 7 and a half months.

Baseball is April to November. So 7 months.

We're talking about two weeks difference in the seasons, including the playoffs. And the NBA has 4 rounds of playoffs whereas baseball only has 3 rounds and 1 wild card game. The NBA has an extra round of playoff games and they never play back to back games. That's why the playoffs take longer.
