I have zero sympathy for the argument a player who demanded and received a long term deal was underpaid in retrospect. That is the bed he made, jumped into, and demanded to be tucked into.
That has never been a problem with Pujols, so...
Define problem
He demanded a long term nine figure deal twice - got it once with teh Cardinals and now with the Angels
There are people arguing that he was underpaid in retrospect with the Cardinals - but they miss the point IMO. He could have easily washed out and been massively overpaid with the Cardinals (like many if not most other players who get big deals)

The problem would be Pujols complaining about his contract. You said a player won't get sympathy for getting a long-term deal; he hasn't asked for sympathy or a restructure.
His last contract led to him being vastly underpaid relative to the market; his current contract will more than likely lead to him being overpaid. If you didn't have a problem with him being underpaid, then you shouldn't have a problem with him being overpaid.

I never blame a player for trying to get as much money as they can. I roll my eyes pretty hard if they talk about the money being a matter of showing respect or that they deserve a ten year deal for what they did in the past - those things are (respectively) mistaken and irrelevant
And so long as baseball contracts are guaranteed the only rationale for the baseball team in making a long term deal is the possibility of savings (what they offer the player in exchange for his guaranteed payout)

I understand there's still lots of season left, but I certainly didn't think it'd start off this poorly. Wow.
