Albert Pujols booed by fans

Am I the only one who saw this? In his final two at bats tonight the Angel fans booed him, very loudly. He finished 0-4 and is now at .194 on the season.
Booed at your "home stadium."

He's making a lot of money to hit .194, from their standpoint.

True, I think the pressure is getting to him. He was comfortable and loved in STL and now he is in big bad LA.
I still expect him to come alive at some point this season though.

His average can only go up. A good hitter can turn a shitty average into a respectable one very quickly.
And I'm just assuming he'll still pop 20+ home runs this year, for his sake.

He'll be fine. It's still early in the season. Still surprised he's struggling this much. Killing my fantasy team.

what's crazy is that it's expected that he'd be booed. Sucks, but sort of comes with it. He has no equity built up with the Anaheim fans.
If he stayed in Stl, there's no way they'd boo him after a start like this. Sort of one of those little factors in a free agent decision like that.

I also heard on the radio the other day that his family is still in Missouri. Gotta be tough for him.
Not that I feel sorry for anyone making that kind of money but still.

I would love to know why he chose Anaheim personally.
I heard Hunter Pence tweeted would you rather go to Anaheim for more money, or stay in STL while they build statues of you? It's a really good point.

Albert Pujols is really living in La La land.

Same here. Really doesn't make too much sense. He was the big shite in St Louis. Also seemed to be happy with his life outside of the game there. Plus if the report was true, he left a HUGE following AND his family behind (at least for the time being.
Right now, it looks like it was purely a money situation. I don't blame him because I would have done the same probably.
ETA: Plus I think it'd be a different issue if he was playing for, say the Royals or Pirates. The Cards are a good organization...it isn't like he wasn't in contention with them.

If he demanded a LONG term contract it was a good move by him so he could DH. As a Cardinal fan I wish him no ill will, we underpaid him for a long time.

true, but he has 100+ in the bank already. Another deal around 200 mil- puts you in the 300 or so mil category. That would be in addition to statues, god status and becoming a legendary icon. What the hell else could you want?
Literally if you ended you career with all that AND two WS rings, and as a surefire HOFer: you couldn't ask for anything else.

only other thing I could think of would be taking a ton of money to play in an extreme hitters' park so he could chase all time records.
Another reason that Anaheim doesn't make sense. The whole thing is so baffling.

i wonder if he'll reach 200 days. i don't think so.

Maybe it's just me, but the idea of already having it made in my home team's town is a hell of an enticement. Why would you ever want to deal with the extreme pressure to perform, like he is in LA right now, ever again? He could hit below the Mendoza line for the Cards the entire season and be out of baseball by 2013 and his stock in STL wouldn't fall one bit. There's something to be said for mere comfort.
Do those extra years and tens of millions really matter? I'm guessing it just comes down to ego for a guy like Pujols.
