The ability to pay off your house

If I was given 600k, one of the last things I would think to do would be to pay off a mortgage at 2.75%.

I have no car loans.

I would just invest the money. And yeah, I guess it would let me retire a bit earlier than expected, but it wouldn’t change my current life at all.

It’s not generational wealth and for most it’s not enough to retire on (aside from someone already close to retirement and sitting on a nice nest egg).

It’ll definitely make someone financially comfortable, but it really isn’t “life changing”

That's a bizarre combination of picks for 2.5K. Someone betting that has 1mil+ liquid cash.

You’d be surprised. I don’t bet but I have several friends (degenerates) who do decent for themselves; six figure incomes but nothing crazy. I’ve seen bet slips in the thousands from them; I don’t get it

that bettor is an alien, from the future, or has access to it.

no one is making that kind of wager, unless they know

Im 39 years old. $600k cash would be an absolutely life changing sum rn, would open up so many avenues we dont currently have available. I say that despite the fact we already have the house and cars paid off.

I’m not sure if I should say “I’m sorry” or “Congratulations”

Who dvs this? Is the correct answer. Even just a few years into a mortgage, you've eaten so much of the interest already. Compare sub 3% interest to 15% returns in a retirement fund. No brainer
