This falls on boosters either unwilling or unable to play ball to land high profile recruits. That's not really Billy's fault.

Getting those mfers in line and paying up is his job now.

The rumors on UF boards are pretty amazing

The current one is that the NIL collective that Rashada supposedly "signed" with didn't actually read what they were agreeing to and that a 300k fee was put in for Rashadas handler that they are now scrambling over

When the athletic programs were raking in money and spending crazy amounts for coaches, you all were hiding behind "but its a separate entity and it makes money" and "its the free markets".

Now that players can make money legally, you all bitch and complain.

Fitting. This is why you can't win culture wars.

maybe they're unwilling to do so because Billy's the coach... so it may be his fault

in the future of college football the winning programs will have not only the coaches and players working together, but also the big boosters who pay for it all. they can sink the whole enterprise if they don't get their way

This.

Imagine not wanting a college athlete to make money because it won't be as fun for you to be a fan anymore.

Are programs not still taking in money and spending crazy amounts on coaches?

Have the fans been affected financially? What exactly do they have to do with any of this?

Players have always been able to make money legally, but the one entity that pays well requires they be 3 years removed from HS. They have always just took the best deal available. Was never the fault of the schools or the fans for that matter.

People are bitching and complaining because the product sucks. The kids used to not get paid and were thus insulated from the bitching and complaining, now it’s being directed at them and the response is “but what about the coaches?” NIL is a horribly inefficient system that, by both rule and concept, does not involve the schools. Wtf are you talking about.

As far as culture wars go, you are right, they are fought with messaging and the emotions they evoke - your post is incoherent but it’s clear who you think is the good guy and who is the bad guy, logic be damned. Congrats on the W, but I’d love to know how winning culture wars is in any way tied to good policy.

Can a player enter the transfer portal that just signed with a team?

That’s the rub. If he signed an LOI and refuses to report over an NIL deal, then he’s basically admitting to pay for play which is still technically illegal. I also don’t know how easy it is to retract an LOI without an actual reason. Pretty sure Florida would have to release him otherwise, which I guess they probably would to avoid any problems. Generally speaking, though, if you back out of an LOI, you can’t just go elsewhere the same year and play

He agreed to a deal and Florida has reneged. Why the hell should he show up?

I’ll admit to not being very informed on the rules because I just hate what the combo of NIL plus no-sit transfer has done.

That said, how can the school reneg? I thought the school was “not supposed to be involved” in how a player got paid??

Am I wrong?
