Right at a million, from the article.

600K signing bonus (of course, the 49ers could be dicks and try to get some of it back) and probably the rookie minimum for his base salary.

He can't retire permanently but 1,000,000 at age 24 is a nice head start.

He was REALLY good last season.

Chris Borland's 21.3% run stop percentage last season was the highest of any player with 200+ run snaps since we started tracking in 2007.

I don't know for sure but Spotrac had his signing bonus equaling 600,000+ for the length of the contract but spread out over the 4 years so I'm not sure he gets all of that.

One of my favorite Badgers ever. He was so fun to watch on the field. He was very good throughout his entire career, which included a couple serious injuries, but his senior season was just ridiculous.

I think the Niners can go after the signing bonus if they want to.

That might just the cap hit since the amount gets prorated over the life of the contract but I'm not positive.

Signing bonuses are spread for cap purposes, but I think it's different for pure cash flow reasons.

I'm expecting a call from the Niners for a tryout, because at this pace we aren't fielding a fricking team next year.

There was power in the khaki. Dumping him is really the only true frickup the FO has made this offseason TBH, and the team is still being torn apart. frick everything.

This offseason as a whole is fricking insanity and I can't help but feel this sport that I have loved my entire life is gradually morphing into something that in the end will be hideous.

I think they get the cash right there, but if they retire the team can go after the pro-rated portion. I remember hearing it on a podcast last week when discussing one of the other retirements.

If you find it, let me know it sounds interesting. It blew my mind that Brady messed with his contract for pure cash flow reasons. Even Krafts bank account gets low I guess.

It isn't pussy like to not want to be a drooling mess who's lost his mind and can't move without pain when you're older.

Once again, I argued in a thread during the fall that you would start to see more players retiring in their prime with all the concussion studies coming out now and I was laughed at and told athletes only wanted to compete and win and didn't care about the costs.

Chris Borland and Patrick Willis. This will be normal from here on out and there is nothing wrong with it.
